Hello Warriors,

I have never done any classified advertising really before. I have heard about US Free Ads but I dont market normally to the US I target the UK markets (normally).

BUt the other thing is that I am affiliate marketing so they need to be allowed to post Affiliate based sites eBay Amazon and such like!

Any advice greatly appreciated

Regards

Danny

    Hi Danny,

Although it's not even remotely as popular as it is in the U.S., and most British cities on it are as dead as door nails, I've found Craiglist London to be pretty busy, at least in some categories.

I don't do much affiliate marketing so I haven't used it for that. I know it's against Craiglist's TOS but, given what I've seen there, they seem to ignore non-US sites for the most part. Plus there aren't the same restrictions as in the U.S. (For example, I can post to Craiglist London, even though I'm in Ireland).

It might be worth a look. (Put a tracking pixel in your posts and you'll find out pretty quick.)

Other than that, Gumtree seems to be the most popular U.K. classifieds site. I use the Irish version quite a bit and it's mind-bogglingly busy, even though the entire population of Ireland is less than half that of just London... so, if you can validly scale the numbers in accordance with population, the corresponding British figures must must be even mind-bogglingler (<--that's a new word, as of right now! ).

    Tommy.

I agree with Tommy in that I've tested a lot of UK craigslist and most are a waste of time due to very little traffic. London is probably the exception. Gumtree however is very busy for some sites. I found London gumtree great.

Craigslist is not good for ebay and it is not worth risking my account for it.

    Thanks anyway

I'm doing a case study right now on using eBay classified ads to promote products as an affiliate. I'm trying a couple different things. But the main component is using eBay classified ads to build your list vs. just trying to get a sale. A sale is awesome of course but to build a list from eBay traffic is valuable because most folks on eBay are looking to buy stuff.

Here is a link to my case study. The videos are free, no opt-in or anything.

It's only been a couple weeks so far but I've been happy with the results. I've posted another and plan a few more to give it a good try.

I've found USFreeAds can be a good place for affiliate marketing. Google seems to give it a lot of credibility. If you do your keyword research and build some backlinks, it seems to be much easier to get a USFA ad onto page 1 of the SERPs compared to a posting the same content on a site of your own. USFA behaves similarly to EzineArticles in that regard. But the big difference is that you can't post ads on EZA.

Yeah USFreeads is good if you are targeting the US but I am tageting the UK so its seems a little pointless or am I overlooking something?
