First Product & List Plan

I have done some CPA/Adult in the past but never started my own list or created a product. I am in the process of creating my first giveaway report and upsell niche authority report and wanted to get some advice on anything I am overlooking or might want to add. These are my thoughts so far with corresponding questions, any advice is greatly appreciated in advance.

1) Free WSO

2) Simple opt-in page for a free mini report ~1000 words. (New content not PLR)
Q. Should I make the free report longer?

3) Upsell to full report ~10,000 words (fresh content not re-written PLR)
Q1. Should I promote this in the full report and download page or wait and do it though follow up e-mails?
Q2. Should I create a domain strictly as a squeeze page or create the squeeze page as a separate page under a blog?

4) Continue with e-mail follow ups.
Q1. Do I create a blog and update regularly and let my users know?
Q2. Do I continue to push my upsell and just give out useful content in the e-mails instead of creating a blog.

5) Depending on the outcome of the free WSO, try using a solo ad vendor to snag some more subs and possibly some sales.

Question #4 is probably what confuses me most. Most lists I sign up with usually just hit me daily with the newest hottest JVZoo products and the occasional in between e-mails hyping a new soon to be released "this will be a game changer" product. I save all e-mail I receive for lists that I am on as references but they all seem to just use swipe files.

    You're free gift is the first opportunity to interact with a subscriber - you need to 'wow' him/her with the quality. It's not the length that matters so much (my free gift is 15 pages, if I recall correctly) but it's setting the right relationship from the beginning - "I'm an authority, I have something to teach..."

    My free gift is unique in itself, but quite heavily presells my main product, which is also a sales page that the new sub is immediately redirected to - and my first few emails also mention my main product.

    My blog/list are completely intertwined - I often link back to my site from my emails. I use Wordpress plugins for squeeze pages & sales pages, so it makes sense. If & when I add another niche to build a list with, I'll certainly create another website. I prefer to do any heavy selling on the website, rather than in my email series. That increases open rates.

    Then you know what not to do...

    But perhaps you're simply getting confused between different list building methods... you're referring somewhat more to the churn & burn, or people who get confused about what model they are using.

    There's a place for that sort of thing.

    Get on some more lists... the good ones are few and far between, but worth paying attention to.

        I know it's really a personal choice but any advice on how to price the upsell? Should I use scarcity or just price it low at like $9.95? I am having it outsourced so it will cost me good money and will be unique content.

            I was planning on attacking the SEO niche for my first product and corresponding blog.

            Unless you recommend a different niche?

              Decided to go ahead with my plan, product is in the works and I am not working on opt-in page for a free WSO. The headline will probably change because the product is still in the works but can I please get some input on my current opt-in page? I have signed up with Aweber and am only using the default thank you page until I can get to that.
