A thief bought my wso and put it in a shared place, that is my hard work.

So,what is next?

        Things change frequently in the world of importing, so I usually update my book twice a year. All the file sharing sites where I have seen my book published illegally only have obsolete copies.

        I have taken down vendors illegally selling copies, whether obsolete or not, but I agree that people who go to the file share sites are rarely likely to be buyers so I don't bother with them. Maybe I have lost a few sales, but I am glad I don't have to support people with the mentality of a thief.

        Some have had the gall to contact me for support after obtaining an illegal copy. A 10 second check soon reveals any such con men (or women).

    Identify the DMCA agent of the website hosting provider, and send them a properly worded notice of copyright infringement.

    Then, move on, as you have better things to do than police piracy. Nobody who downloads from a "sharing site" would actually have been a customer anyway; you almost definitely won't lose any actual money. Focus on the people who will and do pay you.

    I used to sell WordPress plugins -- they got shared all over the place. That didn't stop other people who wanted the real thing with real support from buying $25K/mo in legitimate licenses.

        If you let them know about it with a properly filled out DMCA notice, they will remove it. You don't just send them an email. Most will ignore that.

    Send a DCMA to the website hosting the file, NOT the Blackhat site.

    Most of these file hosting sites will have a 'Report Abuse' button down the bottom or on their contact page. This should include an email address for you to send your DCMA notice to.

    Most sites will take down the files fairly quickly after the DCMA has been received.

    Happened to me before, didnt bother doing anything, as I didn't notice a drop in my sales. These forums where they share the WSOs and products are to be well avoided, they are all just ratting each other and stealing paypal and clickbank usernames and passwords.

    Ratting means they slip a remote access trojan into the guide and they can access your pc when you go to sleep, or whenever it's on

    Happens all the time in gaming..

    Those who use those sites, don't buy stuff anyway.

    Don't take this personally and just move on.

    Even if you takedown with DMCA, it will be shared on other sharing sites and the story continues.

    It's not worth the time and energy.

    Rather focus on marketing your product and selling more copies.

    Hi, send a good DMCA to the site in which your WSO is shared, and they will clear it as soon as they can. Then do the same with the sharing company. It worked for me in just 1 hour and half, a record.

    But as many people says, who download your copies this way, in 99% of cases won't read it. Second thing, who downloads from that sites, is not an original product buyer.

    So keep calm, breath, and start to market your WSO

    It's not worth fighting it, I don't think. If it's good they will just keep on making mirrors. You will spend forever keeping it off the sharing sites, and most of those people don't buy anything anyway.

    You can file the DMCA and get the satisfaction of seeing that share disappear and spend the energy searching to see it pop up elsewhere and you're on your way to becoming an expert at internet whack-a-mole.

    Or you can do as has been suggested and worry about making sure your paying customers are happy and come back to pay for your next product, if you're not too busy chasing pirates to come up with the next product.

    Just let it go. The time and effort you'll expend will be much better off used to make your next product.

    I think this is just one of those things you have to accept with digital products. Your profit margin on them is large, because of the low costs in creating them, but they will be shared.

    To all those saying don't worry, I really don't think that is the right attitude.

    Just because you are fighting a hard battle doesn't mean you give up. Otherwise you have just given into these idiots. I will still always have DCMAs sent to any site that is hosting my files illegally. It's the only right thing to do.

    My solution is to let people who apparently have more free time on their hands then I do, chase down idiots who thrive on the attention.

    Don't you brand everything six ways to Sunday? I sure do. It takes work to remove that. People who pirate files don't like work so your brand will still be on your products.

      It's not about picking battles. It's about right and wrong. I don't care if my products are branded. I don't care if they would never have purchased it anyway. I am part of the IM community and as such we should all be playing our role in stopping this type of thing. Sure, we'll never be able to wipe it out completely but I myself have exposed several black hatters over the years as have others and it has an impact on their community.

      The easy thing to do is nothing. Can you imagine what the world would be like if the cops had the same attitude about drugs and guns.
