What's the on going rate?

Hi,

I just like to get your thoughts on this...

Someone asked me to write an autoresponder email sequence and I was wondering how much is the on-going rate for this.

I usually charge $15 - $20 per email copy but that is if the subscriber opted in for a freebie and I'm just trying to sell them on the next product.

For this one however, there won't be a freebie. So the email sequence (more like an email course) itself is the incentive for opting in.

How much do email guys usually ask for if they have to do the 'teaching' and the 'selling' at the same time? I get the feeling it would be much higher since you're basically kinda writing a mini-ebook in sequence plus you have to make it so that it would sell a product.

Don't get me wrong...I also kinda teach on my 'selling' emails but it's mostly soft teaching.

I'd appreciate any help.

I ask for $90 per email, with a minimum order of 10 emails. I don't see why I should go below this rate, especially since it requires a lot of research for this type of emails, and because writing in an engaging manner requires a lot of time and effort. (I do offer a reduced price for larger orders, though.)

Basically, each email is like a long article to me, so the rate is justified.

    Thanks Lucian!

Research comes easy to me because again that's my bread and butter. So coming up with what to put in it will be easy. And I surely agree that writing in an enganging manner is hard work.

I'm thinking of asking for $45 per email. Does that seem like I'm undercutting myself?

I just feel like I'm in no position to demand such amount as $90 because this is not really my forte. Someone who is on my list just happened to find my emails to be enganging (and probably convincing since he bought. lol) and approached me about it.

Just write a template package of say 10 emails and offer that.
You can also charge all the people that wants to buy the package instead of just that one person.

The last autoresponder email series I wrote for anyone (it was over 5 years ago, now!) I got $80 per email.

I wouldn't imagine the "going rate" has actually reduced since then ... if there really is a "going rate". It's probably like all sorts of writing markets: there are people "pretending to be writers" and charging very low prices, and there's probably a market for them, too. But they have a huge turnover of customers, rather than regularly returning ones.

This totally misses the point of how email marketing works. It's for people who want to buy "writing services" on Fiverr and imagine that an open-rate of 20% is "all you can hope for"!
