Rookie question about whether to create ebook or blog

Hello all,
Hope everyone's kicking ass and taking names.
I wish to be there at some point, but have hit a wall, so to speak..
I have been creating an e-book that is explaining and teaching an aspect of home renovation, for the do-it-yourselfer. I'm just confused as to whether I should create an e-book, or just put the whole thing up as a blog try to make money from adsense and maybe affiliate earnings.
The issue being is I'm not entirely sure it could move many volumes as an e-book, and the price I was thinking of (Up to but no more than $20) seems like it might be too much, even though it is very thorough and has images, plus I'd include 3 bonus chapters/small books as extras and I would have a homepage, etc.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated, and sorry if I'm not being clear.
Can I get some insight from some more experienced people?
Thank you.

Quick rookie answer/question: might you be able to combine the two/all?

Put some of it up on a blog, enough to demonstrate your expertise. Build a list by collecting some visitors' email addresses. Sell the e-book (even if for a low price) and some affiliate products on the site and by email, too?

Could be one of those times when it doesn't have to be an either/or? More work, perhaps, but for potentially far more rewards?

Adsense is not a big money earner for most new sites. And, you would need very good traffic to even make that work. However, you could include strategically placed Adsense units on a site that is devoted to your ebook such as on article pages related to your ebook's niche. Other than that, I would go with the ebook sales site that focuses on list building so that you can contact the people who visit your page later on.

You could make a blog and post 1/4 to 1/3 of each chapter as posts on the blog and at the end of each post tell them "To read the whole damn thing" buy my e-book

You could forget the e-book and turn it into a multi-edition kindle book. If you havent looked into Kindle yet you should. I'd say that Kindle is the 2014 version of the e-book. A lot easier to sell because Amazon has the built in market.

You would have to price it cheaper than $20 but you could simply do multiple books on different subjects within your niche

I would personally do both! Write a blog, build an audience, then sell them the ebook. I can't see how you're going to sell this eBook if you don't have a list or a blog?
