My Changes to Wordpress won't upload

Hi,

First I have to say how grateful I am for the help WF members have given me. I am working to give back to contribute my knowledge when I can.

I just have a quick question today on one challenge I'm having with Wordpress.

I recently purchased a Flexx Theme from iThemes.com, however, when I change my headline, etc, it won't update the site.

Does anyone know what I can do to make my changes upload? I save the settings, but nothing has been happening.

Thanks.

Just had a quick look.. What did you want it to say so I can tell if it has updated or not?

What version of wordpress are you using (it will tell you on your dashboard)?

Did you fill in the two sections at the top of GENERAL which you get to via Settings? Which are:

    Blog Title and Tagline

Silly Question; Did you have your site loaded in your browser before making the change?

If so, just hit F5 to load a new copy of your site (with amendments)

Are your permissions set properly on the files? See here:

I'm not sure of your setup, but here's a quirk of WP that annoys me. It does iterative previews when you're editing.

So if you hit preview, then save some edits, then refresh your preview tab instead of clicking "Preview" again, you'll just see that same iteration of edits, instead of the latest.

You can tell this is happening if you have all kind of stuff in your Preview URL other than preview=true.

Just click "Preview" every time and you should see live changes.

    Hey Skyward,

it does update, only you can't see it.
I have that kind of a problem too.

If you revisit the same page with a different
browser you will see the changes.

I don't know why this happens, but it does and it's pretty annoying.

Your problem probably relates to the browser cache and it is serving you the previous visit.

As stated above hit f5 and you will see the latest version.

        Hi,

Thank you for replying to my post. I'm at a Starbucks right now and have to run, but I wanted to mention a couple of things before I implement the tips.

The "coming soon" should not be there, and also a tag line saying "get page one google rankings" should appear.

I have Wordpress version 2.8. I tried F5 a moment ago, but I'll be sure to try all your advice later today, and come back.

        Thanks for your help.

          Thanks folks for your help.

I have been focusing on the Permissions issue, but it seems pretty complicated.

I managed to find the permissions section in File Manager, and I have the ability to change them, I just don't know if its the right thing to do or what the settings should be.

Does anyone have any suggestions at point?

          Thanks.

Are you using WP Cache or Super Cache? If so go to the plugins settings in the WP admin panel and clear that cache out.

Thank you, but I don't know what cache or supercache is. I did a quick check on the wordpress site but didn't see it.

I did delete my temps fold contents in explorer.

First of all, it would be good to clarify what are we talking about.
    1. Changing the settings in your WP admin are not saved?
    2. Modifying the theme's template files with the built-in editor are not saved (see the answers referring to permissions...)
    3. Your posts/Pages are not saved?
    4. What are you "uploading" - according to your post title?

Hi. Everything is saved. Please see my first post for the changes I am trying to make that are not appearing on my site when I visit it.

Do you have an idea on what I can try?

    You didn't answer my questions.
I did read your OP - that's why I need clarification because it is confusing.

And if you don't see your changes, then nothing is saved.

You can try rephrasing your question(s). Saving, uploading, updating, changing are not synonyms and they are not interchangeable.

What is the "headline"? Blog title? Tagline? Post title? Page title? It helps if the question is precise, so we know where do you need help.
