Hey Warriors, I know a lot of you are into Twitter, and some of you probably have products being developed off Twitter's API and service... If so, read --> Is Twitter preparing for a trademark crackdown? | Blog | Econsultancy I think it is going to happen... |

mmmm interesting...it's not gonna be easy to start protecting their rights so late in the game. It'll be something to see how this plays out... |

Nothing really wrong with Twitter enforcing its trademark rights. And, in light of phishing attempts, there's no doubt good reason to distance yourself from third-parties. Plus, it is a good idea to keep third-party products at a bit of a distance so that there is no confusion and no one will think Twitter is endorsing, or owns, any of the third-party tools, utilities, guides, etc. But, I would feel bad for the people that used "tweet" rather than "Twitter" to avoid infringing upon the Twitter trademark. And, since other people have already used "tweet" as part of their own marks, I wonder if Twitter's trademark application on the word will go through. Seems like it may be, or should be, too late. |

I'm not sure how trademark violation rules apply, but I do know that if Twitter is going to do something, they need to do it right away. It's amazing to me why they have waited so long.
