Hi what would be a few good tips to get new subscribers to a forum dealing with wholesale, liquidation, buying and selling.

Possibly sell a wholesalers guide somewhere and list your forum in there. You could offer the guide or even a beginners list on places like ebay where there are wholesalers hanging out looking for stuff.

One option is to pay for some posters to go in as well - but not sure of the quality of the posts you will get as it is niche sensitive.

If your wholesale forum is the one in your signature, you may want to consider, As a business owner, "would I talk shop on this website?" what value does this forum bring that another wholesale forum does not.

I always like to do promotion style stuff. I once gave away tickets to a concert (it was a specific band site) for the person who had the most posts within a month. Offering something usually works. Maybe a t-shirt for the once you hit 50 posts. People LOVE free stuff - it really doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's free, people will participate.

As for something specific - you could give away a buyer's guide for 25 posts or a free membership to World Wide Brand or SaleYoo for 50/100 posts. Then do a little PPC marketing to build awareness or post on other related forums.

If you are going to give away stuff for users who reach a certain post number would it make sense to limit the amount of posts they can do a min/hour/day?

I always tell people that if they try and "spam" the contest with posts that are irrelevant or don't add value, they'll be taken out of the contest. I haven't had any problems with it this method so far.

Also, if you limit it to specific hour/day you could have people who just do the minimums each day and then you'll potentially have multiple winners.
