I would think Yahoo Answers is probably many times as good, exactly as you might guess from their relative traffic quantities, ages, ease of access, public awareness, and so on.

Thanks, but no thanks. Why would I want to spend my time doing the one that's probably only a fraction as good? I often look at such decisions in terms of opportunity cost. Sometimes, in internet marketing, "both" isn't the right answer.

Only to split test. As soon as a winner presents itself, ax the other one.

It seems like Quara ranks higher on SERP's a lot more now, and the quality of response is better. A lot of Linkedin answers users seems to have migrated to Quora, after the former was shut-down.

Yahoo answers on the other hand is more suitable for Internet Marketers in general, as their traffic seems to convert better for Affiliate offers etc. Also, YA is better for driving traffic, Quora users don't click on external links a lot - unless it has received a number of comments

Yahoo Answers ranks extremely well in SERPs. I rarely see Quora come up when I make question-related searches and see Yahoo Answers quite frequently. Yahoo is also older and its authority strength is unparalleled for questions-type sites.

I'd definitely go with Yahoo over Quora, rather than doing both. Like Alexa said, if one is only marginally beneficial, why waste time when you could be working on another method that's more rewarding?

It has quite some learning-curve, to make it profitable, but it can be very worthwhile. Many people get it all wrong. The important things are (i) always to add significant value, and (ii) to put your link in no more than 10-15% of your answers.

Yahoo and Quora have two entirely different audiences, so I would say that it depends on what you are building.

If you have a tech based site or offer, than you should definitely check out Quora. Just remember, Quora is filled with very smart, very successful, and very tech aware people. It's not uncommon to see people like Mark Zuckerburg and Jimmy Wales (founder of wikipedia) posting there.

This means that you can't just go around posting links. Answer the question in depth, and than post a link to your blog where they can find out more. From you blog post, you can than direct them to a landing page or offer. I've seen many people do this.

Quora is more about building a reputation and answering the question as in depth as possible. People come there for a definitive answer.

Yahoo is a bit more lenient. You can post a brief answer that might not answer the question all the way, and than redirect somebody. But on both platforms, users will appreciate a complete answer.

Overall, just provide as much value as possible and the clicks will come.
