Exact, Broad and Phrase Results question

I have 2 potential keywords I may try and go after. Here are the daily Google search volume results:

KW1
Broad-6608
Phrase-6608
Exact-43

KW2
Broad-1088
Phrase-1088
Exact-891

Assuming the competition for both keywords is roughly the same, which is better to pursue and why?

Why not both and see which one bring in more traffic/CTR/Conversions...?

I probably will, but looking for one of the 2 to base the actual domain name on.

There are more factors involved than competition. You need to look at how the current front page of google stacks up to know if you can break in.

Think about it, if the front page is full of 5+ yr old domains with 1000 back links and PR8's .. find another keyword

The front page of Google contains the competition I'm talking about. Not just the number of pages that contain that KW in Google but all the factors you're talking about. I guess I'm just wondering as a rule which is more "valuable" a higher broad search volume or exact search volume?

Would say it depends on how targeted each keyword phrase is - you want traffic that converts.

I'd add that it depends if those two are related enough or not to warrant making separate sites, or have KW2 be part of KW1's site, or vice versa - that's a judgment call only your experience can make.

      Hope that helps!
