Karl Malden died today and not 10 minutes later somebody on sitepoint is selling his name in a domain.
Site for Sale: Remember Karl Malden .com — Flippa
Is it moral run out and register a domain the minute you hear somebody famous has died? Like the way so many did with MJ?
There has to be another way to make a fast buck......

Actually I dont believe its soly greed. Yes, its bad taste. But I dont believe greed is the story behind it.

I believe its an desperate attempt to make money. Only people without a clue try to sell stuff like Miacheal jackson domains right now, and now this man that just passed away.

Watch the giant domain name forums, a few people think someone is going to fetch them a check for $10k for their RamblingsofGreatseight.com --- domain name. Or something real terrible thats not worth reg fee.

They have to get a grip of reality because they have lost it, they are just worthless when it comes to business building and THINKING.

Just like children are less off when it comes to adult activities, and thinking rational. These are immature people that are and have been stuck in the "make Money" and get"rich" mindest, without further grasping concepts to make a change for the better "half" of them, and much more profitable. They, instead live by the Get Rich "money from sky" mantra, and put desperate attempts to live up to a myth about easy online monies.

They arent putting any quality time to improve or read, study how to actually start a REAL business, or at least a real web site that bring in constant sales.

This is just how and what I believe. I know I have had some wack ideas when I started out. I thought my ideas- domains I regged-- had a huge success factor but I have found out that regging a domain name, is more about finding a matching concept to a profitable market.

It's about science, not "what ever bubbles up into your head" idea.

They are running around like ducks trying to figure out how to jump on to make online money.

Just naive people trying to make a buck, No one will buy this domains of them, why?

Because they stink. No money in the market, there are zero appeal to such domain names and zero longterm potential. And absolutely no one will buy of them, 1-day before the fellow just passed away.

Just illogical on so many levels. But they never see this themself. "money from sky" mindest.

Moral? Yes. Ethical? Yes. In good taste? No.

    Trouble is, bad taste sells.

Care to elaborate on your meaning of bad taste, and where you are getting this fact from???

If you mean, under critisism less condition products online, then I agree with you. Or do you mean, bad taste as with ugly designed clothes, and our personal taste. etc.

    Dorim,

I'm not a philosophy major, so I can't comment on the validity of the "ethics" or "morals" of a certain situation.

My opinion is that it's pretty sick... but that's just my opinion. I'm sure there are others who feel differently.

Everyone has their own moral stance on what they're comfortable with. My advice is to follow your instincts and screw what everybody else is doing... even if it's making them money.

But it's totally ok to rush & buy domains to profit from.....from those who just became famous or just had a hit song? It's done all the time.
People flocked to buy "Brittany" or "Jonas Brothers" related domains when they were just breaking through...but, god forbid somthing happened to them & somone profited...then it's morbid & unethical??? Come on now...
I only wish someone can make a few bucks from my name when I pass on...

I don't have a problem with people making a profit as long as they are providing something within supply and demand.

If I had a Karl Malden signed hat and some fan would love to have it, they can pry it from my hands for a price where the money means more to me than the hat. The fan gets what they want, I get what I want.

Of course there are abuses I'm sure.

The same with info sites. I want info on Karl because he died, I find a site, perhaps click on some of the adsense ads and the ower makes money. Doesn't bother me, I got value from the info.

I believe it's societies that pace us. Everything has to envolve, everything but own standards and values, just the materia around us. I wish we had more human perspective to life.

Not what fits the eye, or belive just everything we read as are sterotypes.

No one will ever become as famous as people did for good deed before the Internet was put upon us.

Do you believe somebody will put a thought on what you did 50-years ago, becuase you was some Internet blogger and author and at the same time made money from ad-sense.

We have no role models, or very few to follow, greed and madness are what are in place in todays world.

For you a website made up with and by your name with adsense had been awesome, after you are dead?

Just prove lack of perspective upon the and how the world, and how you lack seight of possibilites that could change your life and many around you.

It's barely sane to see something In people that regg this domains, in hope of turning a buck, I believe they are clueless.

But this aren't some Internet marketers we are speaking of that has passed from us, try to see things from and outside perspective, Inernet marketing isn't the be all and making Money aren't as important as integrity today.

Ethics, and moral are what's lacking in Europe and America, not in asian countries. They have had their morality systems for hundreds of years.

And they aren't going to give in, to start chasing "other peoples money tails aka dreams" and whisper about what "celebs" did expose, on the red carpets in hollywood.

They are too clever for us. They are individuals, thinking for themself.
