Although I believe that video will never defeat websites in online marketing in the grand scheme of things, I still love video for how easy it is.

Although I'v graduated now to mainly product creation and list building, I still love the thrill of affiliate marketing, and when I do it, I usually do it solely with video. It's so easy to set up, and the SEO is so easy compared to websites. I think it converts better, is more stable in terms of rankings/traffic,

What about all the other affiliate marketers out there. How are you finding video marketing, and do you think it will be "nerfed" anytime soon?

I wouldn't just link affiliate marketing and video together.
There are a lot of ways you can use video as well like increasing traffic, brand exposure, etc...

I have started to use videos to bring out valuable content to my blog readers to increase relationships.

But I think video will stay strong because it shows a personal connection with the person watching it.

That is why when going for a job application people nowadays use Video CVs.

Video can be a great tool for any business...or it can be the core of your business. Either way, it's a good addition to whatever you're doing.

My subscribers dislike it so much (and say so, even unprompted), that I won't now even send my traffic to video sales pages. It's not just that they convert much worse for me (though that's also true): it's that it scores me demerit points with my own subscribers. In multiple niches. It's just too risky for me.

    I love video marketing.

Will it be nerfed? Not likely. It will only become more prevalent and effective.

I have heard a few well known warriors saying video is dying,. NOPE!

not in the slightest! Infact I am going in the pool with you on this one!!! :-)

Video when used properly, and marketed properly, and SEO with rich keywords, nothing will work better. :-)

You can even run PPC ads <-> YOUTUBE or VIDEOS, and this works killer too. :-)

Video Marketing works great, especially if you do high quality video contents.

It will not get nerfed, but the opposite, it will become more utilized and more effective.

It depends on the niche as always. Some niches lend themselves to video content over written content.

Will it go away anytime soon? Nope. The Internet is only getting more and more personable.

So you are doing affiliate marketing via video? In other words, you are putting up a product review on Youtube and attaching an affiliate link to the product site. Well, so are many other affiliate marketers. Sure, it's working now for many but the time will come when Youtube gets tired of the spammy links on site and starts smiting links and banning accounts. Until then, enjoy the money it generates using Youtube videos to earn affiliate commissions.

I agree with this as well. I think the day will come when Youtube will ban affiliate links, then we will have to link to a squeeze page to generate leads before forwarding the customer to the affiliate product page, just as it became with Adwords. Remember that Google owns Youtube so I believe it is just a matter of time. Enjoy it while we can but plan ahead as well if your business is based around Youtube marketing.

Yes I have a feeling that something is going to happen. Perhaps googles little seed will soon lay a hammer down like the father that owns them. Perhaps a youtube slap?

I would hate to see so many get whipped out because of that. Hey if you are going to do it, do it. Just don't bet your life on it.

I like videos. You can use camtasia to make quick videos or windows movie maker to easily add in titls and captions and video effects. I need to look for some free video effects I can use online too.

Have you seen their forums at Movie Maker Forums ? Its really good.

I'm certainly a big fan of video marketing and the things you said are true, it's easier to make a video than to create a whole website and videos often rank well in the search engines.

Rather than marketing with videos alone though, I like to build a website and then use both videos and written text to promote products. I have a video on my pages for people who would prefer to watch a 2 to 3 minute video instead of reading a 500 word article. But, I also have a written version for people who don't like watching videos.

Videos are here to stay. The way to use videos may change however...

The safest way is to link the video back to your blog, website or capture page. But, affiliate links are still ok....for now.

      This is great News!
I am pretty new to IM/MMO but have been a videographer for the past 10 years.

I want to create a product to teach how to make compelling sales videos which elevate status/authority for other product owners and affiliates.

Do you think this has got teeth and what topics would be useful to the community?

I want to add value to the community by sharing what I know :-)

Yes Mark, I think a product like that would have great potential. There are many people using video on sales pages and landing pages and a course (especially a video course) would more than likely have an appeal to them. Good luck!

Like others have said - it all depends on your niche. Split testing video against text is the only way to see if it works for you.

I don't think it's going to get "nerfed" anytime soon, though.

My simple though is: Video build trust and authority!
With pure text, everyone can write that stuff but the video makes one stand out because the audience sees the real man and remeber that guy at the first glance. So Video is best way to build personal brand,
