I love writing about certain non IM topics. And I got to thinking. Could the IM giveaway process be used for non IM niches? Hear me out.

What if a website was created that offered free digital download products in niches that aren't IM. The visitor has to subscribe to a list to get a report about gardening or dogs, weddings, weight loss, food, golf, etc. And yes I picked those topics because I have websites in all of them, but it doesn't have to be limited to those niches. Anyway. What if a group of warriors who have non IM niches were to get together and throw their own giveaway event?

For example: my wedding list is responsive to announcements about holiday party ideas that are on my kid's (well it's my daughter's site actually) party site.

Am I crazy? Why wouldn't this work? Anybody in a non IM niche want to throw in together and try it?

Hi Dee,

Yes it works. I have participated in some giveaway events with recipe ebooks and event planning guides.

It was very successful and I actually think it goes over even bigger in the non IM niches because they are not jaded to all of this.

I could see where it might well go very good, especially in the non IM niche. I'm wondering how it would work for off line business dog trainers, restaurants, wedding planners, etc. You get the drift. Then again maybe I drifted to far off the mark.

Any business could participate, even if offline, although to be effective they would have to have some sort of online presence.

Dee,

It can work if it has a coherent theme that is appealing to a definable target market.

For instance, if there is a giveaway event for work at home moms. Or for massage therapists. Or for golfers. Or for engaged couples.

"Non-IM" is not a theme and this could lead you to create a hodge podge giveaway that would be much harder to promote.

Also, when you go into it you should know exactly what you want to get out of it. I don't think it's something you'd want to do for a lark.

Okay I'm going to go for putting together a giveaway event. Here are the parameters:

No IM or business related giveaway products. If you want to promote the giveaway to your IM list because they might be interested in dog care, weight loss, stop smoking or whatever that's fine. But there won't be any IM or business related giveaway products.

Giveaway product must be consumer oriented

Giveaway has to be original. If it is a plr ebook it should be rewritten enough to stand alone. There's a lot of weight loss plr cr@p out there (as well as other niches)

Giveaway has to have a cover graphic. Or some sort of graphic.

The giveaway will be from August 10 to August 16.

It must be promoted to your list at least three times. A few days before, the first day, and sometime in the middle. If you don't have a list we'll try to work out some way for you to promote it through forum posting, sig lines, writing articles with a link and/or social bookmarking.

There will be no oto offers from me to participants. One giveaway made me go through 4 OTO to finally get to the sign up sheet. Sheesh. BTW I never did sign up because of that.

There will be a website set up for the giveaway that I will host.

If you're interested in participating please post your general niche here. I'd like to get an idea of the variety of niches.

Great idea!

Giving away stuff creates interest...a following of sorts.

Once people sign up to the list...you've got to create newsletters or useful content that brings them back...

More freebies or possibly an affiliate system for giveaways based on points that relate to dollars...advertising on the affiliate pages that essentially you give away so the affiliate can make money...

Once your list is big enough...start rolling out the next phase or a new product or service...

Sky's the limit at that point for you...

A never ending flow of new subscribers interested in your products...

And at that point you have

1. Built a giveaway business
2. Built an Affiliate system that can be used over and over
3. Built an Enormous email list that will only get bigger
4. Created Unique Opportunity for you and your followers
5. Had tons of fun while doing it
