How much should I spend on outsourcing for content?

Hey,

I want to start promoting products as an affiliate. I feel like I have a decent plan in place but need quality content from professional writers.

I'm not an expert in a certain niche and want to get the research done in terms of content ideas and then outsource it.

My feeling is if I can do great research and then get a quality writer doing the articles then I'll be on good grounding.

For e.g.

If I send off 2/3 articles for guest posting and they're top quality then I'm going to get people opting in.

I'm interested to know how people set out their content once people have opted in?

How many E-mails do you write? Obviously you're looking at about $300-400 dollars for about 30 E-mails (Guesstimate).

But I guess that's not much to pay if the content is fantastic.

Cheers Joe

It will all depend on what your budget is. And, only a writer can tell you how much any of this would actually cost you. A professional writer will charge you accordingly to the amount of work involved. So, be sure to provide as many background details/research as you can for them going in and that might reduce the amount of time they will need to spend doing research on their own.

It also depends on the quality of writer you're looking for.

You could probably find someone to write articles and e-mail messages for you for $5 to $10 each, but the quality isn't going to be there. You could also hire a professional copywriter to write your autoresponder series and end up paying thousands.

It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish and how much you're comfortable spending.

All of the above is accurate. What I charge and provide will be different to what the next person charges. The standard will vary from person to person as well so you need to decide what your prerequisites are and then see if you can find someone who can match them.

It depends on topic, length, deadline etc. I outsource my content for my blog and I can pay up to 40 for a piece which leaves me with a quality piece of content

This is something that a lot of people struggle with and too often people make the wrong decision, at least in my experience. We all know that content is essential to any kind of business activity, but then the amount people often budget for it just doesn't seem to reflect that level of importance.

In terms of how much you should spend, that really depends on how much you can afford to spend, right?! While I can't give you an exact figure, if you can afford it, I would definitely recommend getting someone with real experience of the subject matter to create your content, as that knowledge will shine through and increase the chances that your visitors will think "hey...this guy really knows what he's talking about..," which is what you want, as that builds trust (very important as an affiliate).

Having quality content will help you in your future endeavors, that's for sure that's why you should think of hiring a professional writer who can make the articles look professional. Post such an announcement on this forum in the right page and state exactly what your are looking for and how much you are able to give them. In these situations honesty is very important.

one tip on paying freelancers, is that I prefer to use fixed-price jobs (on oDesk), as then workers can bid higher or lower, and both sides know what to expect, compared to paying per hour . . . I don't know many workers who will work as quickly or efficiently if they know they get paid more if they do the job a bit slower.

You may wish to engage a few writer at first.

Different writer has different style, so you will need to see which one suits you or your niche.

Once you find the one that suits your niche and style, you may wish to use them in the long term

There is a guy on FIVERR who offers 3,000 words of quality content for only $5 - keyword optimized even. However, I will not rec this guy... as his articles will WREAK your web site with all his grammar errors. Expect to get your percent conversion near zero. Do you know the saying - people get that for which they pay.

Content is king in internet marketing, and depending on your budget, you can purchase the amount of quality depending on that. I would contact some writers in your budget range and see what kind of quality your are getting

This is the first post I've seen in a long, long time where the OP has a reasonable expectation of the cost of good content. Thank you.

It really depends how much you are willing to invest. If you are just starting out my opinion is that you should start off cheap until you stat making some money then start reinvesting that money and scaling up your business

Well, the only thing that I could think of is the "Quality" of work.
If you hire a guy who have written thousands of good articles in the past then basically you would have to offer him a bigger purse.

Just like everyone said above, it's all about your budget.

Just remember quality > quantity. I'd rather have two articles that get 100 shares, over 100 articles that get only two shares. Something to keep in mind

    Cheers,
    Mark

    Hi there,

Prices vary and it is difficult to gage the quality of work you'll get. One would hope that the more you spend the better the quality of work. Sometimes this is the case and sometimes not.

I would say it's trial and error until you find someone who produces good work and a reasonable price.

I suggest going to iWriter: Article Writing Service, the prices here are reasonable.

You can also try going to fiverr who are cheaper, however, I would say the quality here is hit & miss.

Just test out a handful of writers that you feel may be able to write to your liking - and then filter the best from there. Also, you can't always base things on price. A Bigger Price doesn't always mean a Better Job. That's BS. Sometimes you get what you pay for...and sometimes you don't. Sometimes you can discover a hell of a deal...and sometimes you won't.

There are various reasons why prices fluctuate with different writers and in the freelance world in general. And it doesn't always have to do with the skill level of the writer. Sometimes a freelancer may just be trying to build up their portfolio or something.

Whatever the reason, just test and choose based on the level of quality of writing you want and then deal with payment accordingly. Guess what I'm ultimately trying to say is don't fall into the habit of prejudging a freelancer's skill level just based on their pricing alone.
