You really should think about exactly how you would want your VA to promote your website, before hiring them.

Giving a VA a generic task like "send leads to my squeeze page" isn't really going to work.

However, a good example would be: "make an account on XYZ forum, put my squeeze page url in your signature and start posting honest and meaningful comments, create a few threads with good, related questions".

      Exactly... well stated.

Before hiring a VA, you need to actually do the task yourself - that you want your VA to do - this way, you know how to explain what needs to be done, you have a grasp of how long it takes, and you have a rough knowledge of what results you'll be expecting.

You can waste a lot of money if you don't know these things...

This. Exactly this. This is fundamental. Take it from someone who employs 3 full-time VA's. Almost certainly, it won't work out for you, without understanding this.

Yes, it is always a good idea to do the tasks first so that you know what you are asking and how to explain what you are asking.

But as I do and recommend to my clients, it is equally and even MORE important to write each step of the task down in a step by step process.

Fair Warning here, all tasks have spin offs and before you know it you are deeply entangled in a web you've weaved.

But you have got to get into the weeds with this thing. And being able to hand off to your outsourcer a documented process is better than gold for you and for the outsourced staff.

Take the guess work out of the work, and you will be happier than flees on a dog.
