Quick Newbie question

Hello,

I am interested in doing affiliate marketing. Some of the affiliate programs on Commission Junction require approval from the company. On the application it requires a website. If I am attempting to do PPC advertising only do I just have to pick another affiliate program or is there a way around this?

    Hi Darrell,

If I were you I would just set up a quick blog. Get some PLR content on it and do it that way.

But if you absolutely don't want to do that then you could write in the comment section that you are doing direct linking via PPC and maybe they would still approve you.

I would highly recommend setting up a blog though.

I agree with Trish. Setting up a blog with some content can also be a real inexpensive way to promote the products too. Not only that you will have an URL to give to the affiliates too.

You can easily set up a free blog on blogger.

I am a member of blogger (in the experimental mode) and have thought about that but coming up with the content part eludes me. I am no professional writer and do not have the funds to pay someone to write for me consistently. I wouldn't want to put up a crappy blog either. Furthermore if the blog doesn't look professional enough or does not have a good page rank wouldn't that be a reason to be disapproved in CJ? Any suggestions?

Just use PLR content to get the blog started or get some content from an article directory. Once you get something set up you should be able to get approved for most of the affiliate programs on CJ, also check out Maxbounty for some good CPA programs that will help with the cash flow.

Some of the CJ companies are very strict and judge your site by traffic and other factors. I'd start up a site before you apply so you don't get rejected by companies you may want to rep for in the future.

I agree with the warriors above. You should get yourself a site, or a blog (which is better), than try to get your blog a good rank in SERP by doing SEO on page and off page. You can also do PPC marketing, but you have to calculate if what you spend isn't bigger than your income. Good luck!

Definitely would recommend using PLR if you are not all that into writing blogs posts. I know a few great places to get some niche related PLR. I would suggest just taking the time to see which affiliate programs you are wanting to use, and build a niche blog around those affiliate programs. PLR isn't as expensive as hiring a ghost writer, and takes a lot less time than writing your own content.

OH, and PLR stands for "Private Label Rights" articles. Which means you can post the articles as your own without having to give credit to an author. You can also change up the content as you see fit.

You could also use free articles - however i wouldn't recommend ONLY using free articles. I'd say switch it up between PLR, your own blog posts, and free articles.

      Hope that helps!
