• Youtube - Watermark videos & put a link in the description.
• Press releases - If they are written well and submitted to the proper websites, your press release might get put into Google News.
• Article writing - Offer quality advice or information and it might get ranked high on the major search engines.
• Forums - Participate in online forums related to your business. Don't link spam.
• Social networks - Create groups on sites like Twitter. Offer your knowledge to others, or discount promotions.
• Craigslist - There's a category for everything there. Follow the rules though and don't be a spammer.
• Non-spam comments on blogs. Offer your useful & relevant opinion and they shouldn't mind if you put your URL at the bottom.
• Submission to quality directories.
• Offer services for free in exchange for advertising. Non-profits are particularly interested in these kinds of partnerships.
• Distribute a free eBook about a topic related to your website.
• Start an affiliate or referral type program. Offer your visitors either a comission or some sort of upgraded membership for referring others. They might have a popular blog, forum, website, etc. you don't know about.
• Answer questions on Yahoo Answers & Answerbag with links to relevant content on your site.

Let's not forget one of the simplest methods of generating targeted visitors and that is creating a related blog, blogging often ( at least in the first month ) and pinging.
