Basics of Affiliate Marketing?

Hi there,

I am developing an info product which should be complete by the end of the month.

My main strategy is to distribute the product via affiliates. As this is my first go at doing this, I am looking for some basic pointers.

I understand that I could sign up to click bank and distribute it there. Although I have heard very mixed reports about click bank. With some people recommending pay dot com and Click 2 Sell.

Also if I sign up for Click Bank does that mean that affiliate deals that are done have to go through them.

Or do I need to install my own affiliate software?

I intend to have an excellent sales page and lots of tools for affiliate marketers to promote the product.

I am more concerned about how to back end would actually work.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you go for CB they take care of your affiliates... though you'd have to find the affiliates on your own (forums, social sites, jv's, etc.)

Stick with one affiliate network, you woudn't want your affiliates send your customers to a page that has different payment/affiliate provider.

With CB you don't need any software to install. Search this forum for additional info, there's ton of stuff here :-)

The advantages of Clickbank are that it is very well known, cheap to get started with, easy for affiliates, easy to set up on your site and you can get a listing in the Marketplace. They will also handle all the affiliate payments for you.

Downsides include high transaction fees & that it's way too easy for these serial refunders to get their money back. They also have minimum subscription costs for trials if you are doing recurring billing.

Whatever platform you use, you'll need to work hard to attract affiliates, they won't come automatically just because you are in the CB marketplace.

    Cheers,
    Suzanne

All I can tell you is to prepare for a rough road ahead, it is not all smooth sailing, atleast in my experience.

Try and learn at every opportunity you get, that's the way to stay ahead of the curve.
