Best place to find brick & mortar sm. businesses online?

Hey all,

It's been a long time since I've posted here, but I still read the WF every now and then and have a lot of love for you guys and gals! I owe a lot of my online success to this forum and to the friends I met through this medium. So a massive thank you is what I want to say first off!

Onto the reason I'm posting ... I'm starting up something new and looking for a little advice. I'm in the midst of launching a new startup that enables small business owners to sell gift cards/certificates from their website but not sure exactly on how to reach these people using the Internet.

I'm aware of the main stream advertising mediums like Adwords/Facebook etc, but looking to build up a relationship and have contact with these people first. So where do sm. business owners hang out online? Are they here on the WF? What is the right forum to post in to reach them?

I plan on contacting businesses directly and visiting storefronts myself, but I would also like to leverage the Internet as best I can to find brick & mortar companies too.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
- Gary

Linked In is number one for business-to-business. Look for groups in your niche to join, search for business owners and connect, etc.

You can also search online business directories, yellow pages and other business type listings.

    Great ideas. Thank you!

Oddly enough, I was so focused on FaceBook and other sources, I had forgotten about LinkedIn. I have an account but never use it. Time to dust it off.

You should search for people that already work with small business and try to connect with them to advertise your product for a commission.

Like who were you thinking? Chambers of commerce?

      Thanks for the suggestions.

Hey Aden, I've been Googling for an active small business forum but didn't reveal anything exciting. They all seem pretty dead to me.

Hi Gary, Challenge with many small business they are not fully up and running with websites. One of my challenges here in Australia... websites an area where many don't see the value in.
