Video Expert Needed - How To....

We have a contact who does a lot of video on his site. The question is, how would they get a video down to less than 64KB, they host them on their site, but of course they are not saying how, just that they do.

Any bright ideas

There are many different video formats. Some have better quality, other are small (just like with pictures). I use Ulead VideoStudio. This is what you see before you decide what format you want to save your video in:

I am not sure if this answers your question. Let me know if you are looking for more specific answer, etc.

    64 kilobits per second?

That's extremely low. But here's the shape of it:

    - reduce the frame count as much as possible. This will result in
choppy motion for real video, so your actors should move slowly
to compensate. For screen capture or powerpoint you can go
as low as a frame or 2 per second and it's not too noticeable.
For live motion going below 15 looks weird, but it's do-able.

    - Make the video small, as in 120x240 px or smaller. Fewer
pixels makes for smaller file size and lower bitrates because
    there is less data.

    - Compress the audio down until the quality gets too poor
    to understand.

You can do much of the basic work of this kind of compression
    with http://zerodollarmarketer.com/flix
though it's a little stubborn with taking frame rates way down
you can get to 64kbps by reducing the video frame size until
    you reach your target.

This is for .FLV only. There are other formats which may compress
even more, particularly those associated with hand-held products.

at this time in age i don;t think it is wise to make video with that low of a quality people are expecting good quality videos.

64kbps is extremely low for any video whatever the format.

I promise you they are not low quality. If you wanted a 2 min video made by that person you wouldn't get much change from $10K. They are exceptionally good video, excellent audio. The company makes video for television so we are talking about a professional outfit.
