Anyone used or using Artisteer??

Hi guys,

Have just come across Artisteer and downloaded their free trial and it seems to be a good little tool.
Just wondering if any of you have used or are currently using this product?
How did you find it?
Is it any good for commercial purposes??

Cheers in advance
Sissy

    Hi Sissy,

I've been using it for around 3 months now and it's quite a nifty bit of kit.

The only frustrations I find with it revolve around the more advanced things I like to do but overall I would say it's worth getting. It's certainly much quicker than doing it all from scratch in Dreamweaver as I was before.

      Hi Nigel,

I'm looking at it to make simple sites for offline clients, do you think it will be good enough for the job? What are the more advanced things you find frustrating?

      Cheers,
      Sissy

Artisteer is wonderful! It's cheap and can produce great designs pretty quick - especially if you are not a web designer. I've been using it at work here to quickly create blog themes - once you're familiar with it, you can get a decent theme in anywhere from 15-30 minutes.

Once you've got a theme, there is always tweaking to be done, but it will export not only to html/css & wordpress, but joomla and drupal as well!

Really, I was impressed by it - can you tell?

I tried the trial version, and was surprised at how effective it seems. I didn't purchase it yet but if I did, I would go for the more expensive version.

It certainly does themes well, though a pro' theme might produce better results. With Artisteer, you can update your themes as fast as you can write an email.

Any problems with them? And they have an Aff program, too.

It does seem pretty quick, but do you think the quality is good enough for offline businesses? Or is it only web designers who would notice an Artisteer site?

      Cheers,

That depends on......how much you charge them

I use artisteer, I feel as it's a great software, very well put together. And easy to mangage. I have the PRO version, paid for.

Heh heh, any experience with selling a custom design with Artisteer? It is good software, almost seems too good to be true!

          Cheers,

Yeah, the 'Standard' is worth the money. I would much rather design a theme with Artisteer than try to do it all by hand.

Since I've been using it, I've noticed a lot of 'free wordpress themes' sites cropping up that are full of Artisteer themes. Looks like someone decided to create randomized themes, export them, upload them, and use them as a funnel - might be a good idea, eh?

I was very impressed with the trial and would buy the 'Standadr' version as well. 15-30 minutes is MUCH faster than doing it by hand, that's for sure.

Do you use them only for personal use, or for clients? Do you think it's good enough to use as a commercial tool?

      Cheers,
      Sissy

How well does it make drupal templates?

I haven't used it for Drupal templates, but I've used it for several offline clients' websites (both html and WP), as well as to easily create matching wordpress themes for existing websites. Love it, as I'm not a designer, and the time it saves me is huge--especially for WP.

Cheers Jean, just what I was wanting to use it for. Glad to see other Warriors find it useful, pretty sure I'm going to get it.

I know what you mean! I just think if I'm going to go to the trouble of changing code on a template, I may as well just make it myself. Really seems like Artisteer will make this super quick and easy.

Well, I first stumbled across it when I was trying to find a WP theme that I like for work - my boss wanted his own blog. I ran a lot of idea past him, all got shot down. I found Artisteer, and about a half hour later said "How about this one?" - he loved it!

I used it to design the theme on my site. I'm probably going to change some of the colors around, they look different now that I've slept and had coffee. I saved the project file so it'll be pretty easy to do - open project, find color theme that works (or tweak colors), export, upload, done.

I think really the best part of it all is the color matching. When you tweak your colors, it will change text colors so that the text is still readable. Makes it a LOT easier to color tweak.

I use Artisteer, and like it, the nested css takes some work, plus I have some problems with wysig eds, good drupal templates.

SickHippie -- I stumbled onto it when a client wanted a simple "custom" wordpress theme, but didn't know what she wanted. I ended up sitting down with her and cycling through pregenerated themes, until she saw something that struck her fancy (and then we customized it color/layout/heading wise.) So much faster than anything I've used before.

It works great I use it for joomla drupal and other sites. I have a link in my sig file to a site that has a bunch of drupal made themes. A ton of them are Artisteer generated. If you know how to theme drupal it is still a great tool as it can cut out a ton of time for you. Artisteer has also been good at listening to its clients and putting what they want in the updates.
