Website duplicating our site

Dear Warriors,

I notice recently we were having some issues with our onsite SEO and so decided to take some looking to a few domain and SEO tools.

We have our website hosted with a dedicated IP and hence should only have two domains on the IP. Though our whois.domaintools.com search shows three websites.

Taking a look at one of those sites it seems to be a defunct PBN site that is somehow pointing to our servers and duplicating EXACTLY one of our website. The screenshots show it was initially a simple (typical) PBN blog site (standard header and wordpress layout with one page of blog articles and links) though for some reason now it decides to cache our web page (template, content, and licensed images)

Is there anything I can do about this and what would you advise to approach this website duplicating ours? I've sent an email to our web hosting as well as to the website owner. I'm not too sure how they are pointing to our web hosting though?

    There are many reasons
    Your competitors would like to create a duplicated content so that your main site violates the penguin updates or they just get the content for automation PBN.
    You should file a DMCA request so that the google remove that copy site out of search results.

    Providing your website is absolutely squeaky clean and you have nothing to hide, you could post this problem on the Big G's Webmaster Forum, let them have a shufty at it.

      Great advice, I was considering this option though there has not been any unnatural SEO promotion to our site I'm afraid of having it scrutinize because we do have another site in the same niche hosted on the same host.

      We're using a genesis theme with only original content and quality layout for a customize user experience though not too sure if it's worth taking risks.

      Our hosts have offered to provide us an IP swap although I'm not too sure if that will help much - whether the person was previously using this IP or initially copying our site.

    File a DMCA Compaint against the website. You can also report it to Google.

    Unfortunately, these things happen quite often. The only thing you can do is to file a DMCA Complaint. I'm not sure how much this will help, but your options are limited. The harm has already been done.

    I have at least 3 or 4 clients who have this problem every year. Believe it or not, Google is actually quite helpful. Especially if your site is in good standing with them.
