I am trying to brainstorm some ideas here so thought I might ask you guys to see if anyone had any thoughts. I own some domain names I have had for years yet have not done anything with. They are region specific travel domains like CaribbeanSearch.com, CentralAmericaSearch.com and others. These 2 listed above provide the widest travel areas so I would like to develop them first. Now I belong to lots of affiliate networks that offer affiliate commissions for all types of travel related products. I am just trying to figure out the best way to structure these sites so I can build travel related lists and promote the various travel affiliate offers that are out there At first I thought of just doing a blog that I update daily with various travel deals for the region. And then have links to the companies that have those offers. Then offer a weekly mailing list that sends out the best offers to the region each week. This would take a lot of work daily I think to seek out the best offers and update the sites. My problem in the past is getting into affiliate projects that take up lots of time and don't produce the desired income for the time put in so I am trying to avoid this in the future. Any other ideas on how to utilize these domains to promote affiliate travel offers? |

I am not too experienced with directories, but I do know that there are places online where you can purchase a Directory Dump in order to load your directory quickly. How it works is you buy and dump the links into your MySQL database which is connected to your directory script. The problem with method is that the link and category structure could be the same as other directories and therefore not unique from an SEO viewpoint. Having said that, there are full-tilt directory bozo's out there who set up directories as quickly as we setup Wordpress blogs. The other option is to do a bit of work and load the directory manually until you start getting submissions. A high PR directory will also attract paid submisions and you could add your CPA offers into the regular listings as well as the Featured listings (at the top of each category). And don't forget the regular ad space that can be sold or also used for CPA offers. I think that directories are hard work and a long term project, but could be rewarding as an ongoing "side project". Also, if your domains have been parked for awhile, keep a close eye on your stats. I recently put a parked (at Sedo) domain to use and have found that G and the other engines aren't sending any traffic (in relation to other similar projects). Don't ask me why, this is just my observation. So I have abandoned the project (on that domain). | |

Ya, no matter what you do... The domain imply's "Search" Whether you use a database or simply throw on a Google CSE (Custom Search Engine) and make money on the adsense... Your best off to provide some kind of searchable content. IMO. |
