Will the FaceBook Friend Adder Bots KILL Facebook Like they did to Myspace...!??

hey guys,

i have noticed more Facebook friend adding software's come onto the market as of late...

WHen this happend with Myspace, well, as you can tell, Myspace is pretty much dead because of all the spammers using Bots...

Do you think this will happen to Facebook eventually if people start using these ?

Bots didn't kill Myspace - facebook did.

The bots won't kill facebook because if you ad friends too aggressively through bots (about 40-50 per day through my testing), they warn you. After one warning you can't add people but if you go back to adding too quickly they just delete your account.

It could happen, if Facebook doesn't crack down. I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook starts suing the bot makers like craigslist has done.

Those bots may work for some; but its too impersonal, Facebook is about networking and building relationships over time, in order to make sales.

Its easy to kill a bot, change the code....

Though most people add people manually, as you can add a lot when you try... and thats the problem, as my accounts getting those crappy warnings, and its anoying as hell...

from my experience - and i run thesextree (its new - sign your ex's up, rate them in bed, publish your own news articles , statuses etc) - the only issue i can see is space, i.e. too many links, too fast breaks has the potential to get messy... with database limits, as thats all i care about is it being up, people enjoying it, getting a use out of it...

lol perhaps, I need somethng like the more you post, the lower down the list you go...

hence my need to limit, and well why i charge (or will do going forward, to anyone who wants the extra features, like more space!!!! unless i can come up with some other model to pay for it, as we;re going broke here)

eitherway my status updates, and bulletin posts are viewable by everyone, to get around the need to add, but i have sudenly started woundering what happens, when i get the morons trying to post advertising to stay on top, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

as it would be unusable in spam (if and when my site takes off)... unless i again limit posts, over a specific time frame which would be suspend the accounts, as your not allowed that many sextree updates in a day, or something like that (my equivilent of tweets, which remind me -I must come up with a name...)

though users can filter, stuff out - to well people they know, and i'd compleatly ignored the notion of over your bots *shudder*

which potentiall is really worrying and could and would destroy the site, as no one wants to read advertisting all the time... (unless it has some flair, personal? trying to think how to do it, as i am backtracking here, real fast, after reading some of these threads, and what you lot do)

llo gues, i'm going to have to do a lot of additional coding now, grrrrrrrrrrrr just to stop morons , posting crap, lol which raises the prospect of suspended accounts, maintenance, and other things, which is a tad worying again

however the bots may not be what kills facebook, but facebook themselves in how thet are trying to cover up space issues - by making you look like a criminal if you add to many, as that puts people off, and there is no need for it, as a limit should do,no more then x firiend, or x posts in a day, thank you! as its getting silly now

only that wouldn't work, as too much crap (from bots) would again make the data unreadable, and well... as it will most likely be a case, of removing people you don't want to read, maybe - that will work quicker in the long run, instead of opting in, you opt people out... and be done with it!!!

as i think of how to get around all these issues, help people do what they want, uncensored of course

perhaps i can then offer censored lists of the spamers, i.e. people to exlcluse, if you can see everyone to begin but then you would only try and create more free accounts, as other go, and the pattern would continue again... as i think of other issues to fight... though admitedly you can't sign in with more then one email address, and its like argggggggggggghhhhhhhhh

as i think you lot have trebbled my work load already, as a nice idea gets destroyed... and we and others move to move to defend it... which is a pity, as openess and trust would be so much better, in my view, and well people have to market, but there has to be a better way
