Can you help me troubleshoot the audio on my laptop? I'm not getting audio for online videos or online audios. When I tried a video on a specific site and didn't have audio, I tried several on YouTube. No audio. Same with audio files - no audio. Put a DVD in the laptop - no problem. Online radio stations (streaming audio) - no problem. My volume settings and speakers, etc. All seems good. I'm stumped. Any ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks! |

Have you checked the file association for the program that normally runs the audio for you? I updated an audio program one time and it changed the program that normally runs my online audio/videos. I had to change the file association back for it to work. |

Have a peek in the PC's system audio folder. If you're on a pc running windows, use the start button, control panel, the audio folder is 'sounds, speech and audio devices' there you will have a choice of changing system volume, etc. Have a look that everything is set to max volume. Next, when you're navigating online, make sure that you have your ad and script blockers off and javascript enabled. See tools, options, in your browser window for that. If that doesn't help, do a google search for 'no sound on utube' or something similar. It's a real mystery--I still can't get the audio at a human sound level when watching streaming tv shows, but the commercials blare out just fine. Good luck, and if you find the solution, let us all know! |

Thanks - Where would I find that? I haven't made any changes to my programs or downloaded any updates today. I was watching a vid earlier today w no problem. An hour later I don't have audio for any videos or online audio (aside from streaming audio/radio). Update: I can access videos that are using windows media player. But not getting audio for anything on YouTube or BlogRadio, for example. And I just went back to a video I watched this morning and audio gone now for that, too. |

In the tough cases I often google the problem and see what comes up. Try 'no sound at YouTubes" and see what you get. | |

I just finished rebooting (twice) and retracing my steps ... It did turn out to be site related. Not sure what's up with that ... it's a reliable site. Anyway, thanks for your help new2ebiz. Appreciate it. |

Well my solution was site specific. I ended up re-booting and just re-tracing my steps from earlier in the day. Vid 1 played fine 'til I got to vid 2 ... then I went back to vid 1 and there was no audio there either. Narrowed the problem down to vid 2. Rebooted again ... and voila. I'll have to check that second site from another computer just to satisfy myself about the source. It ends well but huge time suck. I used to have that problem with volume - have you tried using the volume/audio buttons on your keybaord? On mine they are Fn plus PgUp and PgDn. Also Home is Mute. They gave me workable volume. For some though external speakers seem the only option. Thanks for your help! |
