Keywords in Url - Examples from Pros

So a question which people might find valuable: keyword distribution in your URL.

Basically it is good to have your keyword in the URL. Obviously. However it is unclear on the relative importance when folders and subdomains are taken into the equation.

For example, lets say I have a site with no keywords in the title. However I want to optimize for a two word keyword. Is it more beneficial to have something such as:

example.com/key1/key2
or
example.com/key1key2
or
example.com/key3/key1key2

These are all possibilities.

Anyone have input?

My own preference would be for example.com/key1key2 or example.com/key1-key2.

No scientific basis. Just thinking that if the spider doesn't have to traverse so deep it may be more likely to index the page.

    Just my 2 cents...
