Hello Warriors,

I am normally a drupal fan however I am almost converted to WordPress however I do have a few questions that i was unable to find answers too.

Is it easy to add menus and in those menus can I add links to pages ect Like here at Cars UK For Sale on the left hand side I have manufacturers ect I would want to be able to do this in WordPress.

Is it easy to generally add menus?

Also does wordpress have a good photo gallery?

Thanks for any information

All the best

Danny

You should be able to accomplish that within widgets or simply editing the .php file with text and css.

By editing it directly from within the wp editor you can add many options, like include, exclude categories, hierarchy, names etc... search the wordpress.org codex and they'll show you some very simple examples.

I have been fiddling with wordpress for a bit and by no means am I an expert. As far as I know, you can do what the sidebar does either by having them listed in pages or even have the categories side widget and just list all the manufacturers that way. Wordpress has a great photo gallery that is very easy to use. Basically you upload all your images into that page (say for bmw in your bmw page) and you can insert that gallery anywhere into your post. You can customize how many thumbnails you want going horizontal and some other options.

as far as I'm concerned it depends on the theme. And generally wordpress is so flexible that you won't have a problem with adding menus and basically doing whatever you want on your site. You just need a good, flexible theme. Probably thesis is the best choice, yet it cost 160 dollars if I remember correctly. You can also find something good among their free themes on wordpress.org.

At the same time, if there is anything you can't change moving widgets around, you can also edit a code (not all themes are good to be edited - at least I've had some problems with some of them).

Wordpress can be modified to fit just about any type of layout you want. Between using widgets and the right plugins you can get a decent wordpress theme to look just like a regular website. If you can do a little bit of html editing you can customize it even more.

    Not hard at all!

    OK Thanks for the replies,

I try not to edit html code on sites like WP and drupal because when the updates come you have to play around with the code again... I think that its a bodge..lol

I am on the look for themes I find it pretty hard to find a theme that I like is that just me or is that common?

    Thanks again

There are lots of WordPress theme sites (both free and paid) at the bottom of this article:

      http://www.wealthydragon.com/blog/20...dpress-themes/

There may be something there that fits what you're looking for.

To get the ability to customise your layout without touching the core code you're likely going to need a premium theme, unless you can find a standard theme that meets your needs.

      Cheers,

      Martin.

I've been using all this time, and I'm very satisfied with it since you can do the things you said. You simply install the plugin (free) and you can also easily edit any html you want if necessary. Another good thing about WP, search engine LOVES it! Good luck!

2 themes I've been playing around with are WPUnlimited and Affiliate theme. They're both very customizable and support widgets... A combination of a good theme and the right plugins make Wordpress VERY flexible...
