- "The Golden Town is the Golden Town no longer. They have sold their pillars for brass and their temples for money, they have made coins out of their golden doors. It is become a dark town full of trouble, there is no ease in its streets, beauty has left it and the old songs are gone." - Lord Dunsany, The Messengers

A marketer of my acquaintance posted a complaint on Facebook that he's got a new product out which is password-protected. He sends the password in the initial email when you join the customer list. And someone replied to that email asking what the password was.
They also quoted the original email, which clearly showed the password in it.
So here's how I was an obnoxious dick.

I have this thing I do where I post on my main blog (http://www.darklock.com/) every Wednesday. But my server is being migrated to a new bigger and better VPS this week by my supremely awesome host (Bolt Web Hosting and yes that is an affiliate link), so I'm being cagey about messing with things until the DNS propagates and I know everyone's looking at the same server.
And I keep meaning to post more here on my WaFo blog, so I figured I'd come post something here instead of on my main...

I've been dealing with a lot of issues in my business lately that I traced to one and only one root cause.
People keep telling me that I need to do stuff the way everyone else does stuff.
Whether it's that thread a while back about never buying from anyone that doesn't have an upsell, or the constant discussions of how one should or should not mail a list, or the neverending "when should I post my WSO" debate...

I'm eight days behind on a product launch.
I have a new product launch scheduled for next week.
I have two more scheduled for next month.
About 50,000 words of freelance writing.
And on top of it all, I need to get my crap together and move out of my parents' basement by the end of next week. (Not an ultimatum - my own deadline. I refuse to be here an entire seven months.)
So the ritual begins. Whenever I have too much work,...

We talk a lot in here about things we can do to improve sales, and various ways to promote things.
John "Zeus66" Schwartz and I recently released a product called Zombie Blogging. And for various reasons, we didn't have sales copy, but we needed to get it on sale.
So we stuck it on a web page (www.zombieblogging.com - although it may have been changed by the time you read this) that was essentially the title page of the ebook. It literally had the name of the...
