I have some samples of 2 column templates I have made at SLIGO WEBSITES: Wordpress Templates.

Electric guitars would be a nice template to work on and I would most likely have a fixed background with some one playing a guitar and then either a few guitars or a segment of an electric guitar in the header - its hard to say until I start playing around with it. I'd leave you with your 3 columns as that seems to be working well for you.
