I saw your reply to BlueM in this thread and thought I would follow-up myself. I had also commented on this thread asking for direction on how to try and establish a relationship with someone in the IM field who would be willing to work with me as a mentor. I've found it easy in the off-line world (I'm in fundraising) to pick up the phone, or buy someone lunch and proceed to ask for help, guidance, tips, etc. I've had a couple of mentors help me out tremendously. However, I'm new to the IM world and would love to have the same opportunity to work with someone who can show me "the ropes". If you have any thoughts on how I could go about this, or if you know of folks in the IM field who you think would be willing to do this, I would appreciate it very much.

I've been one of the typical newbies who has bought a bunch of stuff but have not been able to implement anything successfully to date. The help of a mentor would be huge.
