Our minds are weird.

Most of what happens in them does so without any intervention from us:
  • Our hearts beat regularly
  • Our hair and nails grow
  • Cells get replaced
All without us having to remember to do that.

But that means our minds have to take shortcuts.

Otherwise we'd be overwhelmed.

One of the shortcuts is ignoring negative words.

They just get blanked out because they'd need lots of extra processing.

Some words just grab people's attention.

Words like "Free" instantly spring to mind as words that help sell stuff.

Sure, free isn't a word you'd immediately associate with selling things immediately.

But take a walk around a grocery store and you'll soon change your mind: deals to buy one, get one free; packs with extra contents free; tasting samples that are designed to get your taste buds working and you spending money.

It's not just famous authors who have writer's block. Anyone creating content on a regular basis can succumb every now and then. The trick is to make sure that you don't experience this feeling too often and, when you feel it creeping up on you, to do something to get inspiration. Fast!

Lists are everywhere.

Do a search for your niche and add in words such as "7 ways" or even just the word "list".

If you're like most internet marketers, you've bought a bunch of PLR articles over the time you've been involved in the business. The idea is attractive: ready written articles on near enough any topic under the sun that you can use with little or no restriction. The problem comes soon after you've bought a pack of articles.

Content makes the internet go round. Google thrives on new content and webmasters are more than happy to supply it in the hope of getting more traffic back to their sites. But where should you place the content you create?

Your own site takes priority

Your own site should take top priority for any new content you create.

Simply because you're more in control of your site than you are of anything else.

Unless you do something really dumb like deliberately...
