Hey guys, I don't know if it's this heat or this weather but i feel awfully counter productive... I should be writing a book and I should be writing articles, but I just can't make my self to do it... The days just keep passing me and I do little or no work at all done... does anyone else have this problem or is it only me? |

Well maybe you are having the problem because people don't like to work or anything in summer. I myself sometimes feel so much exhausted that i even don't like to eat or go out or want to talk with anyone. I feel so much sleepy at times too. Well you just need to relax a lot while working and it is little bit hard to manage in summer season. Thanks Webmatic |

i can write... no problem in that... the thing is i sort of get bored after about an hour and i mostly get little done in that hour... yesterday i made the TOC and i started chapter 1 now i'm about 2/3 done with it... what i don't understand is: I'm writing about a subject that I like and yet i don't feel like writing about it... it kinda sucks... hm... but now that i think about it it could just be a writers block... in a way... |

What I do is minimize the distractions around me as much as possible, and force myself to start working. Once I've got going, I usually don't stop again until the task (whatever it may be), is completed. I enjoy most of what I do. But like you, it's getting going in the first place that seems to be the hardest part. Especially when the weathers nice and I want to be doing other things. ![]() I think all you/we need is a little more self-discipline. -Paul

I have been experiencing the same for a week or so - and keep thinking to myself - why am I becoming so lazy. But middle of the day nap takes over and it's hard to stay awake. So what I'm doing to cope with this is - take is easy during the day - work little bit, relax or go out, but at night I force myself to work at least 5 - 6 hrs.

Yes minimizing the distractions is the first step and keeping complete focus, mind completely engrossed in the task,is most vital. The key is ,when you are in not in a mood, you should work slowly and do not hurry yourself to complete the task, after 2-3 hours of working in the manner you will get back your old rhythm.

It's not just you. I don't seem to get anything done when it is too hot as well. Guess I will have to buy an air conditioner and hope that helps!

I think we all experience this at some point. I can work during the summer days but rain is another thing. I find myself really relaxed & easily distracted. Also, do you need to change your environment? Like an office settings, hotel etc. It very difficult for me to work at home. If I see others being busy, I feel like I am being left behind. Activity breeds activity. Also, can you outsource the writing jobs if possible? If so, you can soak up the sun all you want & not feel guilty. ![]() Produce Extraordinary Results! |

Also many distract themselves by finding excuses for it (the heat, writers block, migraines, ....) What are you avoiding by not writing? Have fun Bart

I sometimes work myself into a frenzy, wear myself out, then have to motivate myself to charge ahead once again. For me the problem is not one of starting a project, rather it seems to be one of appropriate pacing once I begin.

For me, with the heat come allergies, which often hold me back from doing what I need to do. They just tire me out, and leave me with nothing in the tank. In the summer, I tend to clam up in my room with the AC on.

I have the same problem sometimes. So I just lie on my couch, turn on my ipod and listen to my downloaded audiobooks.

Some times the nice weather can get the best of people and slow us down with working hard. But it is also good to take a break every now and then to just relax. Then get back to work!
