Default so confused and overwhelmed

I need help. I have been wanting to start an online business for a while now but have yet to see any real progress. I have bought too many ebooks and downloaded about a hundred free ebooks, and have hundreds of bookmarks to specific money making strategies. I waste way too much time browsing blogs, forums, reading sales pages, reading emails, and reading ebooks.

My main problem is I can't seem to get myself to take consistent action. I can't decide on a solid business plan and then consistently act on it. I will order an ebook, read it, then I will either decide it takes too much effort or is too long term and put it aside, or I will try to put it into action and work sporadically on it not making any significant money then eventually giving up and ordering another ebook. The main things that deter me from deciding to act on most ebooks that I buy are that it costs too much to implament and it takes too long. I'm afraid to invest alot of money and I don't want to wait 3 to 6 months to make any money.

I keep telling myself that I will start with free methods and build some capital but I never really start. Lately I have been telling myself that I will start article marketing, but I have only written 3 articles so far over a period of about 3 months. I cant seem to motivate myself to take action. I don't feel very interested or passionate about writing articles.

Also I have been refraining from starting long term project only because I absolutelty hate my job and don't want to wait 6 months to quit.

How do I find a business model that I am passionate about and will enjoy working on? How do I figure out my skills and interests and develop them into a business? And how do I know if internet marketing is really right for me or if I am just wasting my time on a dream?

Also, should I just take the risk and invest my own money? If so how much should I save up to invest? (for outsourcing articles, hosting, autoresponder, etc.) Or should I try and force myself to write articles to build capital? Should I give up trying to write articles and try a different method?

One last question, how much capital do you recommend I start with if I wanted to start PPC marketing or CPA?

If you read throught this entire post, thank you very much.

I was in that boat once. Read every ebook, browsed every forum, refreshed my email.

This is what I did.

1) Stop it. STOP IT. I mean it, ****ing stop it. No more reading ebooks, no more reading sales pages, no more sitting on the computer with no purpose.

2) Set your hours. You're going to set a block of hours where you will write a check list (write this before sitting at the pc) of things to do and work on them till the time is up. Then get off the PC.

3) Don't do what everyone else is doing. If there is an ebook on the market about what you want to do then it's already done to death. Think of something original. If you can't come up with an original idea Internet Marketing is not for you, infact being an Entrepanuer is about coming up with IDEAS . That doesn't mean you have to do something no one else has done before but you MUST have an original spin on it.

4) Forget the get rich overnight and quit your job stuff. Its unrealistic and nothing but a hinderance to making money online.

5) QUIT YOUR JOB (stick with me, Im not being a hypocrite) and find one that will pay the bills and you can enjoy. Working a job you hate will sap your energy and you won't have any energy to put into your IM business.

6) Avoid the IM niche. Over saturated. Every one is doing it and you've made no money in it - don't be another "guru" with nothing to back up the status.

7) TAKE ACTION! Do this today. Do this now. Don't see it as another option in the long list of things you *could* do.

Hope that helps. You have to be ruthless on yourself and discipline is needed. The truth is making money online is not for everyone, not everyone can do it but if you apply yourself 100% then nothing can stop you.

Yes, good advice.

There is a TON of great advice on EVERYTHING.

Yes, some take a bit of investing... use good sense, but you can't really expect to get something for nothing, can you? Get real. Education costs money.

Yes, it takes time to get most things going. No way around it - you have the books for basic guidance; but every aspect of IM requires a learning curve... call it On-The-Job Training.

No way around either of these.

So just pick a technique that appeals most to you, to your skills and abilities, and GET STARTED DOING SOMETHING TODAY!!!!

The sooner you START, the sooner you QUIT YOUR DAY JOB!

Pick one.

Do it.

Learn from your mistakes - we Warriors will help you here!

Do it again.

Learn.

KEEP DOING IT.

Hope this helps,
Dot

Sounds to me like you're caught up in a spiral. But in order to make any significant progress at all, you've got to step off the Merry-Go-Round and take charge of your life. Get away for the computer and out into nature for at least a few days and do some serious soul searching. Decide to take back control and stop rowing upstream.

No matter what avenue you pursue, there's no shortcut to riches. That's just the way it is. Sure it's easy to get caught up in the promotion of one "gotta have it" product after another. But if you stay on this path, you'll always be searching for utopia instead of taking the action steps that are necessary to grow your business.

There are many different ways to do business online. But no one else can tell you what the best methods/markets/passions are for you.

Get away by yourself and really think like you've never thought before. Don't beat yourself up. But do realize that life is about moments. If you're stifled, frustrated, bored with your job, or constantly searching, you're missing out on the juice of life.

Find one thing you'd like to do online and then create a one-page plan. Next, take serious action to help get you closer to where you want to go. Let one action stack on top of another. Find a way to make it work and look at the long term results. You can't expect much form only a few articles. But write a few articles a week or day and over a year, you should see significant results.

Most importantly, make the decision and then work towards it, without abandoning your efforts after just getting started.

You can achieve what you want. Just focus on the end result and don't worry about the effort you have to put in to get there. Go for it. Your future starts now. And we're all pulling for you!

Hi highrider21, You are not a lone in this confusion and jumping from one program to another. In my opinion this is the first mistake (jumping from program to program) you have to choose a program and stick with it, keep in mind that it does take time to make money on the net (like in every business), you have to put the time into it - no way around that one. I as well was jumping for a while from one program to another with no success until I came across MIB, it is a GREAT program with an amazing support all the way, all is build for you, any question you have is answered fast. Wonderful group of people are in this biz (few thousand of us), helping each other with an honest take. This program DOES work, you do have to put time and work to it (the daily work is easy & fun), the time you have to put is about 1 - 2 hours a day, you don't pay anything for 30 days (so by the time you need to pay you DO see some results). I would encourage anyone that is a willing to put some time for their future to check it out go to the forum there and read some success story they are real. Keep in mind that it takes time to built any biz. nothing is happening overnight. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the responses everyone, very motivating. I'm going to stay off the computer and do some serious thinking and planning for a few days to clear my mind. Thanks.

I must agree with the responses of our fellow colleagues. It is so easy to get overwhelmed in the beginning, because every deal ends with a pot of gold. It’s a lot like gambling, you get the fever and the great deals just seem to keep flowing in.

I am not going to try and recreate the wheel here; I’m just going to support what has already been said. You probably have a lot of great material in your library, so when you get back from soul searching, its time to develop your plan.

There are a lot of great and helpful people out here, who are more than willing to help you succeed. The key to any program which you may choose is your commitment to success. As has already been stated, don’t be in a hurry. Take your program one step at a time, and be consistent.

When I read your story, I saw myself all over again. You can be successful!! We are here to help you!!

Be Well,

Robert

Hi highrider21,

From what I read, I gather that you are just like me, NOT a self-starter. People like us need someone to pace us and point us in the right direction and concrete action plan. I was fortunate to be blessed with a good friend who became my mentor.

Plans and programs aside, he taught me a few things to motivate myself when I was starting out:

1. Set achievable and tangible goal. For example: I want to start earning USD 600 consistently in 6 months time. Once you have that, divide the amount by the timeline. USD600/6mth = 100USD extra per month. So in your first month, work on getting your first USD100, 2nd month a 2nd USD100 which totals up to USD200 per month, and so on. USD100 per month is equivalent to less than $4 a day. Highly achievable and tangible.

2. Work on getting your first sale. This works for me. When I get my first sale, I will know that it actually REALLY works and I will be motivated to work on my 2nd sale.

Start humbly and multiply the effort. As "savednames" said, forget the get rich quick mindset or you will again be suck into the maze of information and get yourselves overwhelmed again. How do I know? Because I am easily distracted as well.

Highrider,

Have you gotten any results from your IM stuff? If not then your despondency is easy to understand. Once you do something and you get results, your belief will soar, along with your enthusiasm.

If you want to see what a ranking campaign looks like and what's involved, see my sig, sign up and I promise you a very interesting ride. Another course? No actually. You get the chance to follow along (even copy) what I do as I plan and execute a ranking campaign for an upcoming mega-launch. It's all about action and results (+ a bit of goofing around, fun and frolicking), which I think you need to see.

Either way, I hope you can find your 'thing'. Once you get the spark it's not work, but interesting and fun. Good luck.

Please read the sig file rules

I am going to give you something to think about:

1. STOP buying every ebook or program that you come across.

2. All I can say about those who make $100,000 per year, $200,000, $500,000 per year online with affiliate programs is that they all do one thing and that is use Google, Yahoo, MSN to advertise their website or websites and they use other people products. The more they advertise, the more they make.

If you see someone who is making $1,000,000 a year online, you can be sure that they spend half or more of that in advertising on the major search engines.

The amount of info is truly overwhelming and I've found it's easy to get sidetracked. I subscribed to Jordan Hall's Bullet Cash Method and can't say I received value for money. I think there are more guys making money out of IM training than anything else. I guess its true that you need to just jump in and start doing it for yourself. IM seems to be a bit like forex - sounds so easy but its quite hard to actually make money!
