I know most of us have "other" jobs, but for those of us who stay at home for work everyday, what do you wear? Do you get up and throw on jeans and a tshirt or do you don a suit or dress? Does how you dress have any impact on what you accomplish throughout the day?

Just jeans and a t-shirt, depending on the season.
It doesn't really matter what I wear as long as I actually get work done. |

I definitely feel different when I wear a suit, but I usually just wear jeans and a tshirt. I don't recommend working in your underwear or anything like that

LOL @ Sean! Yea I would figure that working in your underwear might not be the best option there is. I usually just put on a pair of jeans and a tshirt and call it good.

My experience is if you want someone to come to your door - work in your underwear. Happens every time
![]() I find I work best when I prepare for "going to work". I get up, take the dogs for a quick walk on the beach, shower, dress in clean comfortable clothes, have a bowl of cereal or cup of tea, check the news or do a couple quick household tasks and then I go to work (down the hall). kay |

I wear jeans and shirt at work, it doesn't matter what you wear, for as long as you are comfortable and you do your work well.

In my pajamas until midday, then jeans and t shirt, sarong in summer. This is my idea of dressing for success, after all if you can afford to not dress up for a boss you are already half way there! I have lots of pajamas

I just had to laugh while I read this! I love the way you think and your theory on the pajamas until midday seems ideal. Summertime I sometimes wear shorts but that doesn't happen often. I'm very fair skin type. lol

I wear casual, shirt and jeans will do. Just as long as I am comfortable with what I wear. I think it will help me concentrate and perform well to the task/job.

There are definitely two schools of thought on this idea. Those of us who have chosen to work online, and took a bit of a chance are a different kind of mind than others. The others often feel that when they dress a certain way, they are preparing themselves for better. Which I can understand, just when I am working in a place by myself, what's the point? Now if I'm meeting someone, you bet I'm bringing out the A game...I actually look forward to it.

I work from home and I normally just wear some tracksuit pants/jeans and a t-shirt. No-one's going to be looking at me so I go for comfort.

It means that you dress confidently. That means clean, neat, well-cared-for clothes that aren't too casual for work. It also means modesty - appropriate colors, and things that don't draw unnecessary attention to your body or make you look like a sex object. Parts that should be covered are covered. It also means that you dress in a way that flatters your figure without being revealing. You want to send the message that your are confident and capable of getting the job done.

I find it makes a big difference to my attitude. If I'm slobbing around my work seems harder and less precise. Dressed neatly, even at home and I work better. Ingrained habits I suppose.

I've done both, but now I tend to dress semi-casual. It's a nice compromise, but I definitely feel more productive when I dress for an office environment.

I once knew a man who only wore brown, dark brown pants, light brown shirts, brown shoes and brown socks even. When I visited his house his wife showed me his walk in robe, there I saw rows of brown, all the same suits, shirts, shoes etc.
Then a miracle in a sea of brown: a dark dress suit and red cummerbund. He was an eminent psychiatrist |

Lately, since my life has been crazy over the past three months, I've been wearing t-shirts. I definitely notice a difference in my work habits; I'm less productive and less focused. I'm going back to the dress shirts as soon as I can get my life stabilised. | |

I come from a sales background, and have heard that if a person is working from home, they should get "suited up" before making calls, etc., as they would be more productive. That worked for some of my co-workers but never worked for me . . .give me a pair of sweats in the winter, or a pair of shorts and a t-shirt in summer (never any shoes!) and I'm relaxed, comfortable and ready to go!

Business Casual usually everyday.
But if I am meeting with new clients, or I am running a training session then it's business professional with full suit. |

I'm casual, as well. Very casual. Jeans or capri pants, T-shirt, sandals or sneakers.
If I need to venture out of the house for something business-related, I schedule everything for the same day of the week so I can get all dolled up and look fabulous. Sure beats getting dressed up every single day "just in case." Gone are the days of dresses, hose and heels, and I'm very glad those days are gone. I agree that you present yourself in a different way when you are dressed up vs. casual attire. On the other hand, you can get a lot of work done if you're comfortable and not worrying about how you look. But it all boils down to doing what makes you feel most comfortable and most productive. |

Socks, shorts and a t-shirt.

Summer Attire (I work from home only, with my finance)
Inside: Boxer shorts and socks. Outside: Cargo shorts, a cap and a t-shirt. I find that "thinking and doing for success" has more impact than what I wear, and what I wear is what I'm comfortable in. Having the ability to dress how I please is part of the personal freedom which I inherited when I left my j-o-b behind. |

When I'm working from home, I pretty much work in the pajamas or put on some jeans and a loose top. However, when I'm in the mood to create a new video for social networking purposes, I do dress nice because my image is shown outside of my comfort zone. I believe if you have a mentality for success, then it doesn't matter what you wear in your home.

Shorts and tee shirt from home. occasionally I suit up for an event or speaking engagement. After leaving the corporate world I rebelled against the suit and tie (owning more than 130 ties). I'm somewhat over the rebellion now.

I firmly believe everything in life comes down to image therefore you should dress for success however that does not mean suit shirt and tie everyday however at least smart but casual as no1 will want to do business with someone untidy and dirty as you know

Depends; my clothes don't determine my outcomes, I do.
If I'm meeting with a client, I'll dress professionally; otherwise, I am secure enough in myself and my capabilities that I'll dress more for comfort, as that tends to help me be more productive. |

I dont think it really matters for me, i wear casual clothes - jeans and a t-shirt, maybe a jumper if its cold
But if i were doing somthing profesional like gonig to meet with a client, then i'd probably wear much more smarter clothes, black trousers, shirt, tie

HA! I have a subscription service that has subscribers from all over the world. I fall out of bed at 2:00 am, and MAYBE put on some workout shorts and a tank top. I grab a cup of coffee (auto-timers are great), I fall down the stairs, start up GoToWenbinar and start to work. I won't get ready to face the world until maybe 10:00 am.

I wear red Hawaiian Shorts and a T Shirt (I am in Canada). I call them my serious work shorts. My wife knows when I am wearing them, I am doing serious work.
The best is that there is a Tim Horton down stair in my condo and going there in a snow storm in the middle of winter ![]() Wearing jeans is really dressing up for me at home (once a month) |

yes, I think the main thing is to have my own style, be clean and tidy.
That's basically enough. |
