Default Fellow Hypnotists?

Hey all.
I'm Nathan Thomas, been posting here for a while, but thought i'd do a more formal introduction in the board which seems closest to my niche and passion, hypnosis.
I began studying hypnosis at the age of 15, since then learned a lot, began to do a lot of practice in impromptu setting. Guided by passion and enthusiasm i managed to connect with some of the hypnosis worlds best and brightest, and have been able to learn a lot. Now as well as learning i also teach and share skills and philosophies about hypnosis online via the resources in my signature, and i am running my first live course this September.

Late last year, at the age of 16, i co launched the International Association For Teenage Hypnotists with a friend, with the aim of giving youngsters such as myself a leg up in the hypnosis world, with a big focus on using hypnosis ethically, responsibly, and to help others.
We now have well over 1000 members, and it's strong community.

So i post her wondering whether we have any other hypnotists on board?
Stage, street, clinical, conversational, NLPers or otherwise?
Who else here is a practitioner or fan of the wonderful art and science of hypnosis which has definitely made me who i am today?

Cheers
Nathan
PS
For non hypnotists who are understandably baffled by popular ideas about what hypnosis is, hopefully this quick explanation will clear things up.

I'm completing an online course probably this week. I'll be a certified hypnotist.I'd like to go on and get certified as a Hypnotherapist. I'm definitely not a teenager though. I wouldn't mind talking more about this subject though. If you want PM me and we can talk.

Dave

Hypnotists? Online? Where?

Hypnotizing hypnotists can be tricky.

Peace.

Ethics is importent with hypnosis!
I am a NLP coach and healer, and do a lot of hypnosis.
Some people are still sceptical, they don't know that they enter a hypnotic state several times a day....mostly waching tv, hence why commercials work!
Visualization and day dreaming is also forms of hypnosis...affirmations and praying too.
So, you can do a lot of good or bad with this tool, it depends on the person performing the hypnosis :-)

I think that hypnosis is a scam. How can you prove that the people are really hypnotised. I think that people only think that this is true and it is only a way to make easy money.

Welcome all!
WebProdigy, you certainly are entitled to your own opinion, i won;t try and persuade you otherwise. Hypnosis is something i believe in strongly, and I have certainly seen the results in my life and work. Rest assured if i did not believe in it 100% it would not still be teaching or practicing.

If you are curious, read the article i linked to above, hopefully that explanation should show what we think of as hypnosis is nothing like what the cartoons show.

Hey Mington
It depends on what you want to learn.

If you check my signature you'll see three very valuable resources, if you click the third one (effectivehypnosis) you'll be able to find a free course which is just perfect for the begginer. You'll get a good eBook showing you techniques to instantly hypnotize people, plus the course starts at the basic level explaining exactly how hypnosis works, and how we can create it.
By the time the lessons start getting advanced you should already be able to hypnotize.

There are also plenty of other great resources out there, so enjoy your journey and if you need any help feel free to PM me.

Cheers
Nathan

I am not a hypnotist myself, but a big fan of the art, and hope to pursue it personally a little in the years to come.

I am interested to network with others who have hypnosis niches, sites etc as I am active in this area. I love hypnosis, subliminals, nlp principles, I'm a real junkie for tools which aim to rewire the mind

One myth about hypnosis is you can be made to do things that you don't want to. Not true. Under hypnosis you are always in control of your mental faculties and will not do anything against your will. Here is the link to the site where I took a free course:

HMI is a good school solardave. What you say is true too, however if you utilize the covert field of "mentalism" correctly you can "persuade" people into doing things, even if they normally wouldn't.

I can't post links yet but for those who want to see the power of hypnosis go to YouTube and type in the following:

"derren brown russian scam" - Derren covertly does a modified "hypnotic handshake" with the guy along with NLP techniques to get his watch and wallet.

"richard bandler the hypnotist" - Watch Richard Bandler hypnotize a woman and free her of phobia of flying

As for those who doubt - you have already been hypnotized you just don't know it. Hypnosis is simply an altered state of mind where you are open to changing beliefs.

My Uncle died of cancer - weeks later my own Father was detached and still mourning the loss of his brother.

His "state" was clearly altered from "normal". He decided in that instant to give up smoking & never smoked again. No patch, no weight gain or anything else. His beliefs and patterns changed instantly.

The "state" his mind was in is not much different than a hypnotist altering your state to stop smoking. We enter into this "state" all the time without thinking about it.

So yes - you all can be hypnotized.

-William

Steven,

Maybe to certain point like coming out of their shell when they are introverted but I don't believe anyone could persude anyone else to do something they are against doing.

Hi Web Prodigy. There is actually scientific proof that hypnosis has a measurable effect on the brain.

"Recently (2009) Hull University researchers found that hypnosis has a ‘real brain effect’ when analysed doing certain activities on brain scans under hypnosis. One psychologist, Dr. Michael Heap concluded that the study backed the theory that hypnosis "primes" the brain to be open to suggestion. The study leader Dr. William McGeown reflected that "This shows that the changes were due to hypnosis and not just simple relaxation. Our study shows hypnosis is real.""

I am not a hypnotist, although my brother Jon Rhodes is. I believe he does post here occasionally.
