Feeling Frustrated? Know you can do better? Want to take action but constantly slip into procrastination? Always leaving things until tomorrow, next week, next month, the new year? Always making excuses for why the time isn't right? It's time to separate yourself from the masses, it's time to change, right now. When you desperately need to go to the toilet, do you sit around saying: 'I'll go in an hour or I'll go tomorrow'? No you don't because you know that if you left it and ignored the signals of your body, YOU WILL MESS YOURSELF. So WHY when you are feeling unhappy, stressed out, sick AND tired, do you continue to ignore the signals of your mind and body? If you ignore the signals of your mind and body, and you continue waiting for the right time, you will MESS yourself in the areas of: Health Relationships Finance Spirituality These are just to name a few. If you delay not only will you mess yourself up but you've got to spend time cleaning up afterwards, so in effect costing your more time and effort in the long run. Do you ever sit at the traffic lights and when it turns green you sit there for a further 10 minutes? No you don't, that would be ridiculous, so why do you treat your life with such disrespect? The day you were born, the light turned green, make your move, TODAY, RIGHT NOW DON'T DELAY DON'T MESS YOURSELF DON'T SIT THERE WHEN NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO MOVE AND DRIVE YOUR LIFE FORWARD. |

Very inspiring post you have here chrisgoode. It made me realize simple things that I do with urgency. I am a person who wants to make things done ahead of time. I feel that I have to be on the move most of the time to ensure good results. I like it when you say that "the light turned green, make your move". I moved me and really opened my eyes.

In Africa a sense of urgency is rare and time does not matter too much. Everything moves at a slow pace. This is something that a lot of foreigners initially find quite irritating, but with time, and mainly because it seems there is little that can be done about it, they too seem to conform to that general pace of things. Keeping “Zambian time” is a well known phrase that has come to be symbolise this general malaise with time keeping. Take stock of your time There is a very simple method by which you can assess yourself in this area. Proctor advises that you take stock of your time. Take a day to do a simple exercise that will show you very clearly how you spend your time. He says that humans are creatures of habit so how you spend a typical day is a good indicator of how you spend many of your days. The exercise simply requires that you get a pen and paper and create a log to keep track of your daily activities. Start when you wake up in the morning and finish when you go to bed. Once you have written down all your activities for that day it is time to analyse each one and classify it. Underline in red the activities that you do which are based on other people’s expectations and demands on your time and which won’t move you closer to your goals. This is, for the most part, wasted time. Also underline in red activities which are pleasant and fun but which do not move you closer to your goal. This is also, for the most part, wasted time. Ask yourself if the enjoyment you receive from these activities would exceed the joy you would feel if you achieved your goals. Underline all activities that are productive and help you to reach your goals in green. Work out what percentage of your day you spend on these activities. These are the activities that you need to do more of in order to attain your goals quickly. But whilst this may be true in a general sense it need not and should not be true for you in a personal sense. Bob Proctor said: “Time and life are anonymous. When you waste one you automatically waste the other.” So you should value your time greatly as an indicator of how you are utilizing your life. As far as utilizing our personal time for personal goals goes there is a general lack of organized action when it comes to achieving our dreams whether we are African, American, European or from any other place. That can be summed up as a lack of effective use of time in achieving our goals and moving forward in our lives and a general lack of purpose in how we utilize our time. |

I think developing patience is far more important than developing urgency. Do your work. Then be patient for the results. That is a far better approach to stopping procrastination. |

I'll have to admit, I almost didn't open your thread. Thought you were talking more along the lines of the sales aspect, like scarcity. You are correct. You need to take action on your needs and goals. Your mind and body give you the signals you are not listening to from your subconscious mind which is more aware of everything going on in your universe than you realize. |
