What Are Your Top 5 Goal Setting And Motivation Books? Hi guys, I'm looking for some books on goal setting and motivation. I have looked around but I prefer recommendations to steer me in the right direction. Please note, I'm not looking for 'self-employed' based books but more towards setting and achieving career goals and in personal life. I look forward to hearing some good suggestions! Alex |
Re: What Are Your Top 5 Goal Setting And Motivation Books? Here are what I consider the top 5: Think And Grow Rich - Napoleon Hill Awaken The Giant Within - Anthony Robbins How To Win Friends And Influence People - Dale Carnegie The Power Of Positive Thinking - Norman Vincent Peale Seeds Of Greatness - Dennis Waitley These are "evergreens" and are being re-printed over and over again and I'm pretty certain most can be obtained as free downloads somewhere. A favorite is also: Swim With The Sharks - Harvey McKay because it is such an enjoyable read. There are thousands more, of course, many will compete with the 5 titles I mentioned, many will disagree. They remain my personal favorites and have "bedside status", which means any one of these titles will by lying on my bedside table at any time, as I keep on reading through them day in, day out. |
Re: What Are Your Top 5 Goal Setting And Motivation Books? There are many books that can help you set your goals and motivate yourself. I believe that books are the best friends in life which teach you a lot. I would recommend to read The magic of thinking Big, that's one book that has changed my way of looking at my life. Thanks |
Re: What Are Your Top 5 Goal Setting And Motivation Books? One of the best books on achieving goals is Neo-Tech Business Control. While most goal setting books try to prioritize your tasks to time, NT Business Control teaches you to schedule your physical movements to time using what they call the Mini Day System. They also teach you The Power Thinking System which you use with the Mini Day System to break down goals into small steps and walk through them with assembly plant-like efficiency. There is NO Positive-Wishfull Thinking- Ra-Ra Nonsence in this book. I don't know if this book is available from the publisher anymore but you can find it on ebay. Another usefull section of this book is the section on Tracking Reports. These can help you keep iron grip control over every part of your business. Sam Quote:

Re: What Are Your Top 5 Goal Setting And Motivation Books? A GOAL is something you want to accomplish. So what's wrong with recommending a book on how to achieve them? A lot of people want books that sound good and teach you to think positive. There are hundreds of them and just because they sell millions of copies, do not make them any more helpful. I think the average person gets MOTIVATED by past due bills or the trip to Disneyland they keep promising their kids every summer. They just need a method to set goals and work to reach them. If you have alot of goals in life you need assembly plant-like systems in order to force you to work towards them. Tough? Yes. And not everyone will Take ACTION, its much easier to read another book and promise yourself that after this one you will finally start doing something.. Sam Kane mahasaya--- at least we agree on Swiming With The Sharks..Its one of my favorite books on sales.. Quote:

Re: What Are Your Top 5 Goal Setting And Motivation Books? Hi Sam Thanks I'll definitely get that one. The way I see it there is no use in reading all this motivational books (no matter - millions sold) and not put it into practice. On my bedside table is almost all of the above mentioned. Excellent material but it seems that the golden rule would be to put it into action and that is the area that most people struggle with. I've seen it time and again in this very forum. Also good one to add to the list is : The power of now - Eckhardt Tolle. You're all hyped up and ready to go but what next? Keep well. Warm regards Elmien:cool: South Africa |

Eckhart explains in easy no nonsense terms how your own thinking can mess you up real bad and points to solutions. Here and Now. I have found that often, people will not try to start implementing their own goals for 2 reasons: Fear of change (what if...?) Fear of success (what then...?) An incredible amount of small sub-reasons also work as action inhibitors and fuel immobility. The keyword here is FEAR. And Robbins explains that that we humans have a tendency to go through excruciating antics to avoid fear and pain and seek pleasure. Maybe a key there, a train of thoughts worth pursuing. Sam, Quote:
