Money cannot buy happiness but it certainly can improve your odds of locating something in life that does make you very happy.

I think money buys stability, comfort, further opportunity and a lot more that can all BRING happiness. Of course money doesn't directly buy happiness.. that's ridiculous. A lot of people say that though, "money doesn't buy happiness"--the only people I've heard say this are people born into money or people who have never experienced NOT having money.

It can't buy you happiness, but it can give you a greater degree of freedom and control over your life, and that can make you happier. In studies they've found that once you pass the level of poverty, people's reported levels of happiness don't to increase much with income level.

No. Money does not buy happiness. Happiness is a state of mind. People say I'll be happy when ----- (I get whatever). But people can choose their state of mind through affirmations, visualization and creative imagination. Also, gratitude (being thankful) plays a powerful role in happiness. So you can choose to be happy. However. a few extra bucks in your pocket can produce a lot of gratitude!

Its a part of your life.. its not the only thing that helps you be happy. Actually money can buy only materialistic stuffs and not happiness. But the materialistic stuffs in turn bring you happiness. So its a part of the whole process. Money doesn't bringing happiness in relationship. Thanks

Many possible answers covering many layers of meaning/perspective re happiness. It's not only the money but also how the money was obtained. Lots of people making good money doing something they cannot stand, or even hate. I know that one from personal experience. I was making 6 figures/year and hating every minute of the job. Grateful for the cash, of course. I really believe, now, that happiness results more from perspective, attitude, and feeling than anything else. |

The most common answer is that money can get you the things that make it easier for you to be happy. But the truth is that money can only control your happiness (or lack of it) if you choose to give away your power to money and the things it can buy. You can choose to be happy only when you have a big house, car, etc, or you can choose to be happy for no reason. If you think money buys happiness, then perhaps it will, but only because you let it. Happiness doesn't just happen to you, you're the one that chooses whether to let it into your life. |

I've seen money enslave far more people than it has made them happy. The only real use of money is to help you to enhance the things that already bring happiness. A vacation with your family. A gift that shows your appreciation for that special someone. Food for a healthy body etc |

I once had a best friend whose dad was a doctor and they lived in a million dollar house, and her bedroom was larger than the average apartment, complete with TV, Internet, and private bathroom. Was this family happy? Sadly, no. Stereotypical "rich man's wife" who's never had a job constantly spending her husband's money and putting him down, then my friend had issues of her own... We had freedom to do whatever the hell we wanted, but money alone couldn't take care of her problems. Which brings me to... money buys FREEDOM, but it comes with a few catches. The more money you have, the greater responsibility. This especially applies to the IM world - are you really mature enough to handle potential hoards of money coming in? Before you quit your job to go party in Vegas for a month, do you have money in the bank? Have you gotten out of debt? Have you set aside money for your children's college tuition? I'm not making a lot of money (yet) but the unfinished business gets taken care of first, then a savings account built (with at least six months' worth of expenses), a tiny bit goes to retirement fund (sure, I'm 50 years too early to be thinking about that, but I'm NOT going to get to that age and realize, "oh sh*t"), and once all that's done, THEN I start buying my boxsets of House >:P |

Money cannot directly buy happiness but there is probably some correlation. Money can bring comfort and peace of money and time to enjoy, which can all faciliate happiness.

money is only the means - and it is each ones choice what they buy with it - but certainly happiness is not for sale. Some 'sold' their souls for money - did it get them happiness? I don't know of any single case throughout the entire existence of mankind where the reward for sold soul was happiness.

A lot of people say money can't buy you happiness, but what can?...think about it? Lets say you for example you have nothing to your name today you have a wife that's about to leave you because your jobless, and you have 2 kids that need your help... then tomorrow you win the lottery worth 10 million dollars, would you not be happy? at that moment everything is together and you feel good, if you know how to manage your money down the road that 10 million just bought your happiness because you kept your wife, and your able to provide for your children, now your comfortable and able to do the things you want..your happy thats what I think! |

No money have no power to buy happiness but to buy only facilities to enjoy. Its our innerself and our will to live happy. The people who have no money, they also live happy because they have full trust on their abilities. They never regret what they never have.On the other hand who have money, they may be sad and impatience deu to selfish nature. |

Well having lots of money can buy you lots of material stuff but happiness is something spiritual which you can't buy with money. And you can't really specify the source of happiness. Some peoples happiness depend on other people, Some people feel happy doing volunteer work in short sources of happiness varies among people.

I was at the grocery store checkout the other day and, while I was waiting for my wife to pay, I glanced at the cover of a magazine that was there. It featured a story about Brad Pitt and his wife Angela. They didn't look too happy. Seems they are living in separate parts of their French mansion and not speaking to each other. Was this just some Hollywood gossip? Who knows, but it just seems so typical of spoiled rich people with big egos who can't get along because they are unwilling to give up something. Money? We all need money. That's just the way the world works. But like anything when it comes to excess the the trouble starts. Here's a little story out of the Washington Post. It's about William Bud Post III a guy who won big in the lottery. A good lesson I think. William 'Bud' Post III; Unhappy Lottery Winner - washingtonpost.com |

Hunter Davies (respected biographer / writer) did a survey (maybe even wrote up a book afterwards) of UK Lottery winners. I think his conclusion was that, with few exceptions, money provided a lot of happiness.

Happiness is a state of mind...having money can improve your life and give you more opportunities and freedom to do whatever you want. but I dont think it can buy happiness. heres a quote I agreed with... "I would rather me miserable with money, than without" |

| Money itself can’t, but it can buy things that make you happy. For example if you enjoy sailing you can purchase a yacht, if you like football you can purchase a football team and so on and so forth. Plus gone would be the frustration of wanting things that you can’t have because you are unable to afford them. |

Yes, What happens is when we don't have enough money to maintain our life, manage our daily food and life standard then we will be in great tension. At this time if we have enough money then surely we will be happy. But, after that money will never buy happiness when we have good wealth to maintain our life. So, the conclusion will be money will not buy happiness but it is needed to full fill our needs. Actually, full filling our needs will will make happy. |

Maybe money can buy artificial or temporary happiness but not genuine happiness. Money can make us do things that in a way give us a sense of fulfillment or success but cannot guarantee happiness.

I don't think money can buy you happiness, infact often times money brings out the worst in people. But I do think money can buy security, finanial security. Which is peace of mind. You cannot put a price on that. |
