| Do you want to give up? If you feel like you want to give up in internet marketing, hear me out first. First of all, you need to know that making money online isn't going to happen overnight (yes, you can't say goodbye to your boss so soon yet) Many people enter into this industry with the wrong mindset thinking that they can achieve financial freedom in days. There are people who took years to achieve financial freedom and it may be disappointing when you see others are getting the success that you desired yet you are still confuse about the whole internet marketing stuff. However if you truly want to succeed, you will need to have consistency and be persistent in in your effort. You are not going to get $1000 worth of sales if you are only writing 5 articles per month for marketing. Face the fact. Ask yourself this question, will you hire yourself as an internet marketer or fire yourself? If you think that you will fire yourself, you got some serious work to do. In my latest article, I wrote about how to leverage the compounding effect to help you get the most out of your effort. If you are interested in reading more, you can find my article here. Leverage the power of compounding effect. All I have to say is you do not need to sprint to finish a marathon. All you need to do is not to stop. To your success, Vincent |

This is very inspiring and I totally agree. People are sometimes blinded by the flowery words on the promises of getting rich overnight but it's not possible without any effort at all. We should plant and water it before we can harvest it.

Hi Vince, EXCELLENT article! Thank you for sharing. You are absolutely right there is no such thing as overnight success. Everything worthwhile in life has a price and we need to be willing to pay it. Being persistant is essential to success in any area of your life. Internet marketing is no different. Your article reminded me of one of my favorite quotes by Calvin Coolidge. I want to share it with you. “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race” |

I understand compounding very well. And that is the reason why I traded stocks. I have taken a little break in my stock trading to consolidate my lessons and write a blog. You have summed the theory excellently well like a financial guy, The article you pointed and the talk here is very motivating. keep up the good work. Thanks for the share.

Well its the marketers that give the industry a bad name. Giving people a false hopes. Why do marketers need to play with peoples emotions and lie. Yes giving it straight wont get you that $97 sale. They all say how easy it is, you only have to work 2 hours a day. Thats total **** In future marketers should include a spreadsheet of time management and calculations to show people that it takes time and effort. All the small tasks add up to big hours easily 6-8 hours |

Vincent, to be honest, yes, there have been times when I have thought about giving up. There have been times when I wondered if all this was just over my head, if I was smart enough to do it, etc. Information overload is the primary reason that drove me to feeling this way. Things became much more clear to me when I decided to choose a couple of pathways and just commit to them. I believe that too many folks are trying to be a "jack of all trades" when it comes to the IM game. I realized that I have certain interests and talents, but fall woefully short in other areas. I have always been very comfortable with writing, so that is one of the things that I focus on. On the other hand, someone else may be very good with the technical requirements of IM and can easily go forward with that stuff. Realizing our talents can help us to tune out the noise and get off to a better start, then later on, we can diversify and branch off into other areas. |

When people read about the thousands of money made "in under wears and pajamas" they jump in excitement and eagerly start pursuing the internet marketing dream. They forget that IM, like anything else, is a tradeoff. For you to get the juicy fruits, you have to give something in return. SO most people start looking for "get rich schemes" which if you think about it, means you give a little to get a whole lot of more. So they try putting in puny efforts expecting a lot more and when it naturally doesn't happen they get so discouraged. My opinion is -- when you get into this "business" with the right mindset, you will know that you have to give before beginning to even expect something. That mindset enables you to put in a lot of quality material and input, so much so that in respect to the law of reciprocity, you naturally get something back. Those who feel like giving up either: • Give too little expecting much more • Get in with the wrong mindset • Handle IM as a hobby. I see it as a serious business, with a whole lot of recurring rewards • Are selfish, in a way, whether they realize it or not. |

| I’m glad I didn’t quit although I did consider it in the beginning. My expectations were way too high. I expected results from all of my efforts and expected to make fast money and lots of it. When this didn’t happen, I became frustrated and angry, I even began to resent people for not purchasing things from me.. Eventually with the right mentors, I figured out what I was doing wrong and corrected it and the persistence is paying off in dividends as we speak. |

Thank you for speaking "Truth". I have felt like giving up when I bought into a program and believed the sales pitch. Some of the gurus have some of the greatest copy we have ever seen. Quitting because you are sold and bought the goods is like quitting when someone says no to you, your idea or product. Don't get in the game if you can't handle temporary setbacks. There is a saying about being an overnight success, it took years to become one.

It sure as hell hasn't been easy, but would I give up? F*** no. I've put in too much time and effort to not bear fruit for my labor. I also don't need to give up - I'm capable of success. The life you want's right there - go get it. |

When I was at Yaniks Underground seminar in DC the CEO of GoDaddy said something that really stood out to me. He said something along the lines of "the urge to give up is greatest just before the turning point of your success" Thus, the more you feel like giving up, hold off cuz success is just around the corner. If you are losing money and feel like giving up, just try alternate free methods of traffic until you earn enough to start using paid traffic |

I love that quote you heard in DC, Kenster. I recently met with some serious challenges which made me doubt my ongoing to commitment to IM. The extra urgency and focus this has given me has been my turning point, all with free traffic methods. Wanting to quit is fine. Just don't. |

Great article Vincent! I started trying to learn Internet marketing in 1998 after seeing how much money a guy named Cory Rudl was making. I bought his course (and many others)and tried desperately to find success for seven years. The frustration and disappointment was killing me. I wanted to quit many, many times during those seven years. Thank God I didn't. I finally started making money in 2005 after figuring out the constraints that were holding me back. |

I don't want to go give up but I am just frustrated because I don't have any direction. I really don't know what I need to do in order to get results and everyone just wants to sell me the answer. If I knew what I needed to do I would do it but even the training courses I have bought really have not helped me much.

Failures/Disappointments it is the critical ingredient to success. How do we deal with this critical ingredient? Actually, all failures/disappointments have the potential to become success stories. It is just a matter of using failure to your advantage. In this case, correct practice makes perfect. As you encounter more failures, you will learn what works and what does not.

My guess is that you've not picked a particular business model to follow through. Perhaps you're bombarded with so many different opportunities that you have no idea which to go with. I used to face the same frustrations as what you're facing now. I was all confused and was suffering from information overload from all the gurus trying to sell me their products. Right now, after I've set my mind on a business model and choose to ignore other models regardless of how much potential I think they offer, I have a much better sense of direction. You can't go with more than one model at a time. That doesn't work. No point being a jack-of-all-trades but master of none. If you want to try out different models, be a master in one model first before moving on to another. Perhaps you can PM me to let me know what model is right for you and I'll see how I can help. Cheers~ Mark | |

it is also very helpful to maintain flexibility as an onlinw marketer. Being doggedly persistent and sticking to your strategy long after all signs point to be it being misguided and ineffective can work against your chances of success. Just as patience and persistence can be virtuous in the world of marketing, the ability to recognize when it is time to change up your strategy is invaluable as well.

Nice information presented in the post. Making money online is not get quick rich scheme. Its a process that allows you to make something extra money in the beginning and then can substitute the main job over time. I think the main theme of making money online is discipline and also the 8th wonder of the world - The compounding factor that helps you make money over a period of time. Thanks

Its all like a fully fledged tree, reaping rewards from it is easy. But that tree just doesn't happen to be there, we have to start out from a seedling and nurture it into being a productive well rooted stable system.
