Default Do you feel like no one understand what you are doing?

Sometimes I feel like no one in the real world understand me with this IM thing. Especially my parents and siblings. It's so out of their reality that I can't even explain them what's it's all about.

It makes me sad because I love them and I would love to take them with me on my journey.

I guess it's all about time and I'm grateful to have a place like the WF to find like-minded individuals.

God bless you

SuperRyan

Definitely know what you're feeling SuperRyan. Luckily I just graduated college so my parents are ok letting me "mess around with online stuff for a little while". But I really want to show them what's possibly with hard work and personal structure.

Take those that respond positive to your ideas and let it fuel you. Do the same with the negative people too - just don't judge them for their belief. They just don't really understand what's possible with technology and your drive. Show them wrong and then share your knowledge and positive mentality with them to help them out.

A good friend of mine is working on writing a novel or short story. His parents are coming down on him too about getting a job. Not just us IM'er are faced with these problems. If it's really what you wanna do, push past it. If you have to, go to the library, wake up early on the weekend, find uninterrupted time to get your work done. Best of luck

It is normal because our technology now is a drastic change from their technology in the past. I am also having a hard time explaining my job because in the first place they don't know how it works and there are no physical items to show them in order for them to appreciate what we are doing and how we are earning from IM.

Most people are still in the manufacturing mindset. If you're not producing widgets then you must not be doing "real work." When I started working in the Internet industry in 1990, the Mac software I developed couldn't even be used by most people...try explaining to your parents that you develop a $495 TELNET package for the Mac which is used by every major company in the aerospace industry.

The real question (IMO) is "do you need them to understand"? It sounds like you might not so just keep on doing what you're doing and share the results. If they support you, they'll cheer when you ask them too. ;-)

Actually, I think my problem is that I don't even understand what I'm doing.

How old are you SuperRyan may I ask? I've been in this situation in my childhood when i felt left alone. I venture to do things on my own, alienated myself to the world that only i can understand, and feels strange to everybody else. But then i found some people with the same situation that i have, and felt that we clicked. People who knows what I'm feeling and the things that only us can understand.

SuperRyan You aren't alone. I've been at the IM for sometime and majority of the people I know don't understand. I have stopped trying to explain it. As long as you see progress and know and reach your goal that's what counts. When you are at the top....they will want to understand. Keep reaching for your dream and your goal.

One of the ways to pull them inside is to wave to them the cheques you earned from the affiliate programs or whichever money making program you are doing. Once they see the money, their minds will believe that internet marketing is part of reality.

Money makes the world go round and round annnnd round~

The best is take them shopping with the money you earned and buy them something or buy them lunch.

I'm 26 and I've been in IM for 4 months now. I'm blessed to make money but it has seriously damaged my social life (less friends and I became more cold with people).

I believe that it's just a season and I'll find balance again.

Yep that's right! You're not alone. It's really hard to have a social life when you are too hooked on the things that you love to do.

Well, it all depends on you and how you prioritize. Time management, know how to balance your time with friends and work. Just relax, don't push yourself onto something that you might regret in the future. And most important thing is to make sure that you are happy with what you are doing, and everything follows.

I think it depends on the circumstances that how do you look at others.
I dont care what people say about me.Its my life and no one has option to restrict on me.
My friends are so good, they always try to understand me but sometime it looks they are not understanding me.
