Default "I Love Money"

Have you ever noticed how that phrase makes most people so uncomfortable?

I mean... you can say "I love football" "I love food" or "I love shoes" and no one flinches.

What do you think?

I think it only makes unsuccessful, insecure people uncomfortable. I think it instills a materialistic, greedy image in those peoples mind.

If you say "I love money" to successful people, they will probably just say "Me Too..."

I guess we are just too proud to say it. Honestly, I do love money because I need to earn money in order to survive. Loving what I am doing because I need to succeed will also lead to the fact that I love money. I don't see anything wrong with it unless you earn it illegally or something.

I love money because I've seen first hand in a lot of my friends families(not my own thankfully) how much the lack of money causes problems in family relationships. So it's nice to live comfortably because you don't have to have those arguments and problems about money - which seem to be the biggest family breakers at least from what I have seen.

Earning more money is good. But the mere love for money is the root of all evil, not the money itself. Greed can be dangerous, you know.

Money is good. Man is good

Some people with too much money do bad things, money is still good, man is still good.

Greed is neither bad nor good, bad actions incited by greed are bad.

It's all relative

Yes I love money! I love money for the good it can do for me and the people around me.

So is it the love of the money or the power that it can bring?
Meaning it can bring the power to be more carefree, help others, get you things, etc..

I can't ever recall kissing a dollar bill because I thought it was pretty and made me twitterpate

though I often kiss dollar bills goodbye

I certainly like the feeling of not having to worry about finances, yes...

But loving money is nearly as bad as something can get IMO - and NOT just because of 'religious beliefs' of mine.

Think about someone you know, that you truly love. Mom, dad, spouse, or the best - a child/children. You'd do practically anything for them, right? If you were in danger of losing them, you'd go to God knows what lengths to save them. If they were unhappy, you'd probably do whatever was in your power to make them happy.

If this 'love' is given to money, you're driven to do things you wouldn't be caught pondering otherwise. Most of the evil in this world is driven by the love of money. People trying to get more by any means necessary.

Just listen to most of today's mainstream rap/hip hop music for an example. Look at the corruptions in governments, and things like the drug industry where there's a lot of malice and bloodshed put into importing/exporting for a lot of quick cash. Power = money = power, and those are probably the two most in demand things today. And look at "today."

I doubt a lot of people that say they love money truly LOVE money, I just hope that isn't me being hopeful.

I'm not trying to be "holier than thou," but I really try to avoid doing business with people who (truly) LOVE money. Do you love most of the people you do business with? Unlikely, so they probably don't love you back. If they aren't even split between a love for you and a love for money, all their left with in the deal is their love for money. What's stopping their love of money from dealing dishonestly with you or outright ripping you off?

If it came down between someone I love and a partner in business, I know who I'd choose. That's the way I see it and why I choose to not love money.

I think, it's very simple.
According to the Bible, "the love of money is the root of all evil".
There's nothing wrong with money. There is nothing wrong with having or wanting to have more money.
In my opinion, it is very natural to be drawn towards money, as it is to be drawn to any other remedy that can provide some comfort.
It is important, I think, not to put it (or, love of it) before things that money cannot buy - like people's lives, good health, human relationships, one's relationship with the Creator, etc.

I know one thing....What ever you do...make sure you do not constantly keep saying "I need Money"!

Because you are what you think!

I love to wake up and give thanks for the money that is coming to me. So far this is working for me.

I think you make a great point but I also think people don't realize that its not the money they love its the results of a much needed tool. I think it's put best in Bob Proctors book "You Were Born Rich" "I use money and love people, not the reverse"

I agree. They say the love of money is the root of all evil. I agree with that only to an extent.

It really depends what you love about money - the ability to do more good? the ability to do more bad? the ability to do nothing at all? It really all depends on your perception.

I wouldn't say I love money, rather I love freedom, I love knowledge, I love happiness.

I wish you all the best,

I think having the I LOVE MONEY attitude is soo important when running a business. After all, what is the primary goal of any business...to make money and make as much as possible. That is the primary, not necessarily the only goal.

It is important to seperate this mindset from your personal life though. Love money when you are in your executives chair but when you get home, it will probably help you be happier if you tone down that passion for money a bit.

Kenster I see where you are coming from. Though for allot of people, especially newbies, it could be a very negative thing. I mean think about if your primary goal is to make money then you have forgotten one of the main rules of business "The customer comes first" (not the money).

I do not think at all you feel this way. I am merely stating it could be a negative and damaging mindset for newbies. The best policy in my opinion to start out with is put the customers needs first and the rest will follow.

I mean if you try to sell the customer a perception of what he or she needs sure you will make money, but he or she will be no better off then when they came to you.

If you sell something they really need and will help them you earn thier trust and possibly future business along with positive word of mouth which can lead to more business.

It only takes a minutes wait for a sucker to be born, the same can be said about a tarnished name.

Do I love money? Undecided but I definitely dislike the lack of it.

"Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race"

It's not money that I love but the freedom it can bring. Note the 'can' - it's up to you what you do with the green stuff. Use it wisely and you have something few people have in this world and that is choice.

The attraction for many people with IM is that they get to choose. They get to set their own hours and make their own decisions. Make the right choices and you make money. With that money you get to make more choices. Even if you get those wrong, you can always make new ones.

Yes it's a responsibility but wear it lightly and you can do a lot of good, not only for your loved ones but the rest of the world.

Just my two cents worth...

I don’t know about that. Just wouldn't say that I love money, but I like it very much and things that it can buy. You know, what I really love is the Freedom. In another thread we were talking about how we lose track of days.

Anyways, that is really funny. I would be willing to bet the farm that people working for someone else don’t lose track of what day it, because they can’t wait for the weekend.

In this business, you can do anything you like. Actually, you can make Tuesday and Wednesday your weekend, if you like. So, you love the money and the freedom.

Yes I believe the love of the money is the root of all evil. It's not about wanting or having a lot of money and being greedy. But it's how much you are willing to hurt somebody for your own financial benefit. I'm not saying, hurt in financial sense, otherwise business would be wrong(obviously it's not) But how much you are willing be mean on a relationship basis with somebody.

If you think work and earning money is more important than not arguing and getting into conflicts all the time with your family. I think this is a standard one, especially in poorer, middle income families. At least mine was like that.

Parents are always saying "Oh no, there are a lot of more important things in life than money." but then they argue with each other because of lack of it which clearly shows that money for them is more important than good relationships. It's really hard to explain, but when work and earning money is above everything, always, this is a problem.

This might sound odd, but I actually hate money. And its not because I don't have any, its simply because of the barriers in life that are created because you either have some or you don't. I also understand it is a commodity, it is a form of trade, a way to determine value. Yet when it comes to my personal accomplishments, I don't value money in the same way I value my success.

For example, my "dream" job is to become a film producer. I do not want to do this for the money -- even though I know that if I become successful I will be "blessed" with a lot more cash than I make now. It will make my life easier and I will be grateful for being able to make a living while working in my "dream" job. But I still hate money. The value I get from doing something I've always wanted to do, far outweighs the value of having loads of cash...

I used this in a previous thread, but one of my idol's once said -- "Roy, why can't peanuts be the means of trade in the world? Then we could pay the boys with peanuts!"

It was said by Walt Disney as he was trying to stay positive during a discussion with his brother about the company about to go bankrupt during the 40's... I always thought to myself that if peanuts were the means of the trade in the world, Walt still wouldn't have had enough.

I look at money as a trade and just that. I need money to survive, and I need money to accomplish all that I want to do with my life -- both personally and professionally. But I do not love money. At the same time I'll leverage any opportunity to make it, because I am also a business man. Will I do things I personally feel unethical? No, but that doesn't mean someone else will feel the same way...

I believe it make people uncomfortable because they know it is a wrong statement. Money is nothing but paper and metal.

You do not love money, you love the things money allow you to do.... If I gave you a million dollars just to sit in your account they would mean nothing to you....

If I allowed you to take that million and do all the things you so much wanted then your mind would like good feelings to money...

Another funny part of money is that you will make exactly the amount you MUST have, never what you want to have.

I agree with the poster who said that the customer must come first, and not the money. I think we have a semantics problem. I think many people DO love money, but that can be dangerous.

I think of money as a side effect, a commodity. I do like having it, it pays my bills. But the important things are things you can't buy, like friendship, family, and other people.

So... I have to vote no. I don't love money. But in our society, it is useful and something we need to have.

I have to agree with you, I value this "time freedom" above all as well. My dad used to work 14-hour days and can probably be considered rich from any point of view, but he basically threw 20 years of his life away to get where he is now. I wouldn't say that he was greedy or anything, his business just sucked him in and life happened while he was busy planning other things.

I'm genuinely happy that I decided to become a software engineer, because this line of work (especially if you're self-employed like me) enables such an awesome lifestyle ...

Sure, money's great and "I Love Money" as much as the next guy (and I'm not ashamed to say so), but I would take $5k a month and a "full" life instead of $40k a month and 14-hour workdays any time.

Luckily we don't have to choose between those 2 options in life - with the right mindset, everyting is possible in internet marketing.

Naturally money is a good thing. I think people just assume you mean that it is a priority in your life when you say "I love money".

Personally, I think people throw the word love around too often. I save the word love ford people and experiences, not for things. I understand what you mean though when you say I love shoes, or money, or fast cars, or whatever. You just like it a lot and we don't have a word in english to signify that besides love. So, I'm not nitpicking. I'm just stating my preference for clarity xD

Money is good, but it's just a tool, and that's a really important thing to remember. I'd put a lot of things in a higher esteem before money, as I'm sure you would . I think the point of your question is, why do people assume you mean you are devoted to money when you say you love it? I suppose that implies a fear or anxious feeling they have about money. I'm sure I've had that same feeling in my life, and I'm sure it'll come again. All I know is that I try to remember that it's simply a tool that I use, and shouldn't get that backwards.

Or, I could have your question all wrong xD. Let me know if you meant something else.

When it comes to money, we're ALL of the same religion.

"The love of money is the root of all evil." Money itself is not evil. The love of money is the "ROOT" of all evil. Some people misinterpret wrong. From that quote - I personally don't think it is the root of ALL evil. Some person may go kill someone because he messed with their family. Or winked at their sister. Some people just have a bad temper.

But if you look at a high majority of crime in the world, if you ding deep you will find out (especially in poor areas) that the reason that guy robbed the bank and killed that woman is because of money.

Mankind have been in arms fighting for years for more territory and land Because they know that more land and power brings more oil, resources, etc. And that leads to more wealth. More, more, more! They want more! They can't ever get enough. Money. It is the thing that cause some internet gurus to charge outrageous prices for their product - that is out of the reach of the average guy. They forget the times when THEY did not have much money and $100 was a lot of money to them. They forgot what that felt like.

some people can't handle a lot of money. Their attitude and personality change and they don't even realize it.

If anything, it is "the GREED for more money is the ROOT of MOST evil" - Hey - I came up with a new quote!
