I'd recommend "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". It doesn't deal directly with this problem, but the habits themselves can be built on.

Steve Pavlina also wrote a series on Self Discipline that is a quite long but well worth reading: Self-Discipline

Other than that, the best advice I can give is to figure out everything you're doing during the day that isn't related to getting what you want. Once you know what isn't helping, remove it. Start small, and build on each success.

Willpower can be motivated through books and ideas... but self-discipline? That cannot be obtained by reading x amount of pages. Get Real. Self Discipline has to be PRACTICED, over and over again. Repetition is the secret to self discipline. Where exactly do you need discipline in your life?

For people who need MY help (weight loss/getripped/get stronger etc), I set them up with a ritual, this ritual becomes a habit, and once this happens there isn't much thinking involved in the process. And when this ritual becomes a habit, success becomes a HABIT. They have self-disciplined themselves to take on healthy habits for life.

So sure, go ahead and read the books you need and write down any good ideas but just know that reading it alone will NOT give you what you need.

Try The Success Principals by Jonathan Caldwell. It is sort of a step by step guide on how to transform your mind. Also, The Secret. Both books are fabulous in their own right. I do agree with FitJerk though in that the power is not in the reading, but in your actions.

I'll second Steve Pavlina's blog and articles on self motivation and willpower. Here are few that stands out:

Self-Discipline
30 Days to Success
33 Rules to Boost Your Productivity

and my personal favorite (this one gets me going every single time):
The Courage to Live Consciously by Steve Pavlina

Hope these will help you :-)

Hi, Chris:

For many years, I have been a fan of Brian Tracy motivational and training materials. He has topics to cover just about any area a person needs help with. I have personally benefited so much from Brian's materials that I started selling his stuff earlier this year. If you are interested, check my StarrBizz site for Brian Tracy links.
