Let's share our success stories however small or big they are- past or present. Here's my little success story.
A few years back I was trying to traffic to my blog and just on a whim decided to submit a story to Digg thinking I would get a couple of visitors. I submitted the story late at night and went to bed. The next morning I checked the story and it had skyrocketed to the front page getting about 1200 Diggs! I didn't just get some traffic I got a flood of traffic (about one visitor every minute) and got press coverage of my blog. I didn't make a ton of money from doing that but I made steady amount from the SEO effect of being Dugg. What about everyone else? |

One of mine would have to be when I was bullied by my friends and abandoned on the first day of school.
I can still remember the heart-sinking feeling of being told to meet in the park before school and knowing - just knowing - that my friends wouldn't be there. I suppose part of me wouldn't accept it and so I went to the park anyway and of course they weren't there. That year was very depressing because I was constantly being psychologically bullied and I just wouldn't stand up for myself. One thing I decided to do was to concentrate on my sports. I don't remember doing anything that special except doing well at the cross country. However that first year I was voted (joint) "Sports' Man Of The Year." My parents were there in the audience when I reconceived the award and I shared it with someone I had always looked up to and would never consider myself as accomplished. Although looking back now I understand that I put in 110% into everything I did athletically. And ultimately represented my school in the county championship in the Roman city of Bath (UK) and came 2nd in the entire county in the 1500m race. The bullying eventually stopped when I stood up for myself physically and surrounded myself with new friends. That's just one of my numerous sporting achievements I've recently remembered after accomplishing an amazing exercise I learned from Jack Canfield. All you have to do - to improve your self-esteem - is to list 100 successes that you've had. We've all had many more successes than failures. However most of us have been conditioned to concentrate and remember the failures. Completing this exercise brings you back in touch with the reality that you're a "Successful Person" and improves your self-esteem. Another technique you can use is to keep a "Daily Victory Log." Great question by the way, Ehanson, thanks for starting the discussion. I'm looking forward to reading other people's success stories. If I had to choose one it would probably be overcoming the most crippling brain disease known to man. The thing is that was a joint effort and I couldn't ever attribute all the success to me. |
