Default Some may argue this...

The other day, a Warrior posted a cool video in the Self-Dev forum.

One of the quotes from the video was this:

The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it is conformity.”
- Rollo May

This quote just gets me fired up haha

I think that as IMers we need to stop focusing so much on hype and doing exactly what everyone else is doing. The people who are most successful in the IM industry are those who took the basic principles (the time tested methods that work) and put their own spin on it.

It is so important to be able to brand yourself/your product/your company in a unique way to achieve truly extraordinary results.

What are some ways that you Warriors are trying to emerge from the clutter and saturation? What are you doing to become unique?

Thanks in advance for your input

- Tommy

I don't pay any of that stuff any attention. Maybe because I've been earning a living online since the mid-1990s and I'm jaded beyond all hope, but I just don't care. I do what works. If others want to be "original" or "mavericks" or whatever, more power to 'em. I love money, so I do whatever I can to make it, as long as it's legal and isn't too boring.

You do seem jaded my friend But I'm glad to hear that you've been making a living online for such a long time. I certainly am striving to sustain my online businesses in the same manner.

I admire your position on this subject. Keeping to the norm will actually bore the heck out of life!

Hey Tommy,

I think it certainly is possible to be different while still adhering to
the principles that are effective. Maybe that means allowing your
uniqueness, or personality, to come through in whatever you do.

If that statement resonated with you, then that's cool and perhaps
you should follow your intuition.

There are lots of people doing very similar things online, affiliates
marketing the same products, etc. I imagine some people may look
at a number of them and ask what makes one so different from the
other. Why should I buy from this person over another when they all
pretty much look the same?

You seem to have some passion, and that's something very many
people do not have. Don't lose it because it can propel you to places
that perhaps you haven't dreamed of, or realized. Never know.

See ya 'round.

You don't have to like or love everything or everyone, not in the usual sense. Injustices and villains always abound during primitive times. You knew this would be true before you chose this life, just as you knew that the good and the beauty would far exceed the bad and the ugly.
Go where you're drawn, and dwell upon all that is good. ~ Mike Dooley

I agree with you Tommy.. Branding yourself, your company and product is becoming more and more important now than ever before..

More and more people are coming online, and everyone is on the same playing field.. standing out should be one of our top priorities..

I do tend to believe that those who find their own way do better. It isn't necessarily because following everything else doesn't always work. I think it's to do with how everyone is different. You find your own strengths and eventually you learn to focus on those. Sometimes you could end up doing the same thing as everyone else, but sometimes that focus leads you to stop caring about everyone else, and at that point you're really in the right place for success.

I'm still getting to that point ...
