From first impression, if he look very nice to you plus talk to you as if you with them have been be friend for very long time, even if you just met him/her today, you should be careful. Yeah, I know, not all people like that, but, just in case. From your experience with that person, if they often said some bull**** or from your own fella told you to be careful with that sort man, then you should consider it as early warning. -Malik | |

Ask them a question you know to be true and see what they say or how they say it.

Knowing somebody is trustworthy or not isn't something that is meant to be thought of logically, or cognitively. You already know the answer to this question. Listen to what your intuition, your soul, your gut feeling, has to say; not your mind.

Listen to that still voice inside of you. You know the one I'm talking about. It's that feeling in your gut that alerts you when something is wrong or not quite right. Trust yourself. You already know the answer - you just have to accept it. |

I like the answer above about looking at how the person treats someone below them. I also think it's very hard to know who is trustworthy - especially on the internet. Often you have a gut instinct, but sometimes that doesn't work. I think knowing who to trust ultimately comes from experience with people. We'll all be let down from time to time, but our experience can teach valuable lessons about people. ~Ruth |

My Dad always use to say,"Trust them as far as you can throw them." Well, this may be true at first but generally I tend to give folks the benefit of the doubt. Burned once, shame on you. Burned twice, shame on me.

I would rely on background research and reputation. A person can talk nicely and with confidence but you can never know if the person you are going to deal with is trustworthy.
