Please help. I have a friend who is afraid to take the plunge into internet marketing. He's lurked here, hasn't posted yet, has learned a lot and is on the edge of applying it. Would you share your stories of what scared and what scares you in internet marketing? How you over came your fears? Any new ones pop up later? How have you dealt with them. I really think this could help him. Thank you in advance! 20/20 |

Yeah I know what you mean. It really comes down to a fear of failure. Once he takes that plunge, and still balances his life, he'll be much happier, as long as he's making $$$.

I would say that there are plenty of challenges but nothing to really fear in iternet marketing if you stick with electronic products. You haven't got to take out a big business loan, you don't have to sign a lease for a shop or factory, nobody's going to be phoning you in the middle of the night demanding their order provided you don't stray into physical products. The real problem (which is also a good learning opportunity) is the long lead time between starting up and actually making any real money. |

I was afraid NOT to start my net biz. I primarily sell products about stuff that I teach. So I had a fear of having to keep teaching physical classes, which take lots of time, instead of teaching it, taping it, and selling it. If he fails, what's the worst that can happen? |

Measure his time expenditure so that if something doesn't work, he doesn't feel at a loss. It only takes 10-20 minutes to submit a 2-3 paragraph article to EZA with an 89 cent godaddy .info affiliate link, and then just see what happens. If it makes money, great. Test the waters before you take the plunge. Always. |

To be honest with you, it was not the fear of Internet Marketing that scared me in the beginning it was the fear of not doing it. I know that there are sucessful Internet Marketers out there and if they can do it so can I. Definition of Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Do not get me wrong, I still have fears about it because it's a journey I have not taken before but I have more fears about losing my full time job. I first tried IM about a year ago with an offer from NBA. I invested about $24 into it and I got back $20. I wasn't discouraged and I kept with it till the end of next month. This was about the time when I was earning about $100 a month. I invested everything I had into the project, I kept improving my Adwords campaign and changed my landing pages. I invested a total of $240 into campaigns and I got back around $130. I quit IM that day and went on to building Adsense related websites. I was back on my feet after a couple of months but not nearly earning anything close to a good amount. I decided to try IM one more time after 7 months. It took a while to summon the courage to invest more money into my campaigns. I found a better product, invested into article marketing and bookmarking and after the first month, I reached my first $5000. I'm doing quite well right now, enough to pay rent and enough left after that for some extra fun and savings |

Hi, Tell your friend to get this free 100+ page ebook. It's written by someone who's made a living online since the 90's. The ebook addresses many aspects that are relevant to your friend's situation. I also very highly recommend anyone who reads this to get this ebook and read it. Read it, then do it. Got that? No, I'm not an affiliate. No, I'm not the author. TalkBiz News: What you really need to know to succeed online - Online business building newsletter Remember... Get it. Read it. Do it. The 3 its. |

The internet does seem scary but so is the whole world...Conquering your own fear is THE key to success in life....I read a book a while back that literally changed my life: it's called Feel the Fear and do it anyway by susan jeffers...I recommend that book, it's a real eye-opener.

Three suggestions (as well as seconding the advice about the link posted above): 1. Identify what you are afraid of. Not in general or what if? But think it through and take a realistic look at the WORST that can happen if you start to work online...can you live with that "worst" scenario? Can you live with the worst that "might" happen? If so, no problem...get started. 2. Cut IM down to size by eliminating the buzzwords. Internet marketing is just selling something online. Referring to it as a lifestyle, a dream, a massive journey, etc makes it bigger than it is. 3. Plan for small successes such as your first site or blog online, your first sale, etc instead of trying to jump instantly to huge profit because you need money. It's good to see the big picture - but you have to paint the picture color by color. kay |

Well I certainly do remember those types of feelings when I was first getting going myself. I think the only way to really get over things like that is to simply just start taking part. As the old saying goes...conquer your fear, by facing your fear. After a while, you start to wonder what you were so scared about in the first place. Cheers Davin |
