Can any of you relate to that mild “Sunday night depression” feeling? It’s always fascinated me. I mean, I don’t have a regular job to dread on Monday morning since I’m a full-time internet marketer, but there’s still something about Sundays after the sun goes down that’s always mildly depressing or something. Do you know what I mean? I’ve actually done some thinking about it over the years, and I think it’s related to the sad feeling you get after viewing a beautiful sunset. Beautiful, yes, but it also means the end of a day, which is a little death of sorts, and I think that’s where the “Sunday Night Feeling” originates, too. It’s the end of a week and the start of something new and unknown. Anyway, it’s Sunday night right now, and since so many of us peck away at our keyboards by ourselves, I thought I'd mention it. Can you relate? |

Hello: I don't get that feeling. As a home-based freelance writer and Internet Marketer, I don't keep any particular hours; I'll generally work any day, any time of day, depending on responsibilities in the community and when my spouse is home from work. For me, I actually look forward to Mondays because dear spouse goes back to her day job and I then have less distractions. ![]() GT |

Yes, I do relate to this very much. Even though I don't have to go to work in the morning, I still feel it. I'm not sure how it is for me. It's not necessarily a sad feeling, but it's something palpable. I also have a "feeling" about Friday afternoons. There's some hint of expectation, or even excitement in the air. My bet is that almost everyone has similar feelings about Sundays, and maybe Fridays. |
| You don't have to like or love everything or everyone, not in the usual sense. Injustices and villains always abound during primitive times. You knew this would be true before you chose this life, just as you knew that the good and the beauty would far exceed the bad and the ugly. Go where you're drawn, and dwell upon all that is good. ~ Mike Dooley | |

I have had the same experience my self. I think it happens if you do not really enjoy what you have to do on Mondays. My interest of self improvement has helped me to find ways to make my job more interesting, so it's not much of a problem now.

When I used to have a full time job, I was happiest on fri nites and started dreading from sunday morning. These days working for myself, I find I have lost track of my days because I enjoy what I'm doing...all the learning and stuff. The funniest thing is I dread fri nites now because it means the whole family will be home and all the nagging starts |

This is fascinating because, whilst I don't actually get that feeling anymore (I used to when I was at a job that I really didn't enjoy), I have 'vague impressions' of that feeling as the weekend draws to an end. I think it's an awareness of, as you say, a kind of death, a drawing in from all the fun and freedom from responsibilities that fill the working week (especially for those who are in jobs they don't like). Now that I work for myself, doing what I love, there's less chance of that awareness deteriorating into a sense of loss of what's been or of dread for what's ahead. Nice opportunity to reflect on something subtly significant |

I can TOTALLY relate to the Sunday Night Sadness feeling. I experienced it for years. Part of it was the depression of going back to a job I didn't like, part of it was childhood memories of leaving 1 parent and going back to my other parent's house (my parents were split when I was very young). The Sunday night feeling is totally gone now. One reason is I am a full time entrepreneur and my business is my passion...I can't wait for Monday morning to get to work. Second reason is I have my own kids now and Sunday night is an amazing time to spend together. |

Provoking thought. I only get that feeling when I've had too much to drink before going to bed and consequently have bad dreams about my former employment.. Otherwise, life is good. |

I can relate to it, but not from a 'job' point of view. I am 22, and although 4 years seems like a long time, I still equate sunday night with the beginning of the school week. And the end of the weekend. |

I can relate to this Sunday Night "down" feeling from a job standpoint. I enjoy any weekends that I do not have to work and try to make the most of these two days off to spend time with my family, get things done around the house and be able to do some things I enjoy doing. My job is very demanding and during the week is almost always busy around our house with the kids' activities and sports. My goal is to be successful enough in my Internet Business so that someday I can get away from my demandng job and that Sunday Night dreaded feeling.

Like the others I can relate too, but like ctutt I still get those, dreams as he calls them, or as I like to call them, nightmares. I don't talk about it much, but yes, I do get the Friday, somewhat like blues, but especially if I want to watch some TV and there is nothing on, and this happens on Fridays more than any other day. At least on Sunday there is The Amazing Race to distract me, but like some of the others, it depends on my wife's working schedule, and what other family jobs I need to take care of that week, which mostly distract me from my other business and internet interests, know what I mean? |

| I used to feel this way when my kids were younger. I knew that the end of Sunday meant I would be going full speed all week running kids to this and that and working on my business in between. I wanted more time to work online, but was limited my to many other activities. Now that they are raised everyday is like Friday. I think it’s all about passion. Once I developed a new mission statement for my entire business model it made everyday that much sweeter. Tom |
