You Know Who's A Failure? Michael Jordan, That's Who!

This is my favorite Nike commercial ever. Maybe my favorite commercial ever, period.

Michael Jordan talks about his string of "failures" in the game of basketball.

It's perfect to watch whenever "fear of failure" sneaks up on you in your business, or you find yourself beating yourself up because you screwed something up and you need some re-inspiration. Here's the commercial:

People think that champions never screw up or fall on their butts. Well, they do. But part of what makes them champions is the way they RESPOND to their failures.

"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. "

I'm a big Michael Jordan fan. Excellent post ... very inspiring.

I know loads of people who're experts at criticizing. They're so scared of being criticized themselves and so scared of looking stupid, that they never really try to do anything big or that can be considered an achievement. Their lives are bland and uninspiring. How so very sad.

Learn to enjoy failure, it's the nourishment of champions.

    Thanks for this clip,

The difference between Michael Jordan, Bill gates, Thomas Alva Eddison, Henry Ford, Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, and almost every other mega successful person on the face of this planet and the average Joe and Jane, is that the average Joe and Jane thinks mistakes and failure means they are not meant to do the things they fail at again.

The successful person KNOWS deep in his heart that mistakes and failure only means they are not supposed to do things THAT WAY again. They just adjust their course and keep moving in a slightly different direction.

If you try every direction there is again and again and again...eventually you MUST find they path to success.

    It's law.

What do you think would have happened to Ford Motor Company if Henry Ford had accepted failure and never tried again to invent the engine that his engineers said was impossible to build?

What do you think would have happened to the lightbulb if Thomas Alva Eddison had accepted defeat and said the lightbulb was impossible to build when he tried for 10.001'th time? Or when his lab burned down to the ground in a $7,000,000 fire on Thursday December 10, 1914? (ref. New York Times Archives)

Or if Robert Kiyosaki had said "Ok, I quit...My family is meant to be poor!" when his business went bankrupt, and his Rich Dad congratulated him for it?

Keep failing, it's the only way to succeed...Get Your A$$ Off The Ground, Adjust Your Plan, And Do It Again!

Absolutely. Imagine if we'd all quit learning how to walk after the first few times we fell on our butts We'd still be crawling around everywhere.

It is amazing how the successful strategies of the successful people are discussed and only a handful of the failures are ever discussed. It was a shock to me that MJ failed to make the last shot 26 times during his illustrious career. It only shows that everyone makes mistakes but what is important is the lesson learnt.

The most successful people indeed fail over and over again but it the adjustments and knowledge gained that is the difference. Micheal Jordan knows what it takes to be successful; he does what others are unwilling to do. Successful people do the things that unsuccessful people don't do.

The one who fails is the one who doesn't learn. Whenever I feel that things are tough and that I'm not getting anywhere...I remember Thomas Edison and Colonel Sanders for their undying commitment and drive to see their goals through.

I'm going to add MJ to the list now...what an impactful ad.

Thanks for this video clip. I also love it. In order to become the best at what you do, you must be able to overcome your failures and move on.

That's funny, I was actually in a bit of a funk the other day and looking for motivational videos and came across that. Great commercial. As they say failure is success turned inside out and vice versa

MJ was cut from his freshman basketball team. Did he give up?
    NO. Period. Space. Space.

He did whatever he had to do to drive himself to success
    then onto greatness!

That's a formula we all can follow....

That video gave me chills and I know because I can respond in my hockey career throughout my youth. My failures made me know how to continue and do better the next time, which ussually there ALWAYS is a next time.
