I recently saw a book with a subtitle that made me think of something. At the risk of making it a rampant tactic, would it be illegal to put something like: "Inspired by Joe Vitale", or "Inspired by 'Chicken Soup For The Soul'" or something like that as a sub title / tag line to a book? It would look nice, and probably increase the amount of time someone would read the cover, and get across the initial AIDA test for marketing, but probably wouldn't be the reason someone would buy a product. Any thoughts on that? |

Maybe you can get in touch (via e-mail, telephone, letter...) with the people whose name you want to put. Or with their legal representatives... It is very little cost, but you will at least be sure you're properly done. ![]() If they refuse you can try with some other person. |

Using those terms on your product cover or promotions can violate trademark registration. Potentially expensive legal problem for you. I doubt very much if either of those two entities are going to allow their names used to call attention to an unrelated product. kay | |
