McDonalds=Cool Productivity Lesson

This thread is not on the health merits of McDonald's food...

Ok Guys,

The subject title is pretty out there. I know. Here's my thinking.

As I type this thread, I'm devouring one of my favorite guilty pleasure foods...a big bag of McDonalds...4 bucks for a massive amount of happiness.

Wow...I"m happy

So what does this have to do with productivity? I am a firm believer that

Happiness=Productive

For me, when I'm really enjoying what I'm doing...I get WAY more done.

So if you're struggling to get work done, get started on a looming project, or have any other deadline you need to meet...

Go out and get a little bit of guilty pleasure food...

This flies in the face of "eat fruit for great natural energy boost" type of diet advice. But I believe that it works...and I'm living it right now

Enjoy guys..and don't forget to go grab some Taco Bell or a Whopper

Cheers,

Brad

I didn't know Maccie-D had an affiliate program! I should get into CPA more!

But seriously, don't the crumbs fall into your keyboard?

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

    Hi Brad,

Nothing wrong with a little comfort food to give you a boost....once in a while

How you feel affects how you work. Actually it affects what you do, work-wise. When dragging do what it takes to work effectively.

It might but it's an easy clean. Well worth it for the taste of a little double cheeseburger. Yum...and the fries...mmmmmmmmmmmm lol.

      Cheers,

      Brad

      Ryan,

I agree too...for some comfort food is fruits and veggies...chemically food can impact you almost instantly...which I agree.

But see I'm thinking even deeper than that...the positive association of "well-liked" food ("good" is too subjective) with working is a great association to build. Anchoring that in your deep psyche is a great way to slowly but surely boost your productivity.

In my case, too much Mickey D's would destroy my productivity b/c the associative effects would be trumped by the massive amount of fat...and "other stuff." However, in a fast small dose...it does outweigh the possible negative.

I just got a really good idea while eating my cheeseburger which is what inspired me to write this post...took 2 bites then a new free tutorial I want to publish on WF popped in...

So it does work to an extent.

      Cheers Bro!

      Brad

Yes, go get McDonalds so you can feel happy for a few minutes then get no work done when the sugar/carb load crash comes soon after.

That's one way of looking at it...but "crashing" after non-sugary fast food is a lack of discipline...

I guess my whole idea works if you don't look at the food but rather what you really like in the food world.

For me...nothing beats a savory cheeseburger when I'm feeling down...

True story. White potatoes have the same glycemic index as a candy bar, so... I do agree that you can't work hungry, and if you found one food to eat before you started working you could be a powerful association so that it triggers you to work.

haha good advice -- definitely something to be done in small doses though. If I eat too much McDonalds I feel greasy and sick

Lol....you guys are getting caught up on the McDonald's fact

Comfort food can equal ANYTHING...obviously a cheeseburger is repulsive to a vegan.

The point is you're anchoring something comforting and positive (hence the name comfort food) with a positive action (being productive).

If you study neuroscience, most of us are all just huge pockets of habits and programming that our life experience has done to us.

Of course, I'm generalizing a bit...but for the most part it all holds as I said.

    Cheers,

    Brad

I'm glad you're enjoying your Mickey D food. I recently enjoyed a McRib and french fries.

But, this food isn't why you're productive.

The real reason you're so productive is because you're focusing on your project and taking action.

Okay, now you've made me really want some of those fries . . .

Hey more power to ya, looking for your next IM product "Cheeseburgers make me xxx,xxx per month!"

But I'm pretty sure even McDonald's cheeseburgers have sugar in them, part of the formula to get you addicted...

    Take it easy.

LOL..how does mickey d's do anything good for anyone? every single time I have tried any of their food I feel sick and nauseous and need a nap! that isnt productive and no other fast food can be productive with the amount of sugar, carbs, fat, processed crap they put in all fast food and junk food...you want to be productive eat some veggies or fruit or drink lots more water and boom! more energy+more productive guaranteed! every time without the sick feeling from grease and fat and sugar..no crash either!

I work 14-16 hour work days every single day of the week and this is the only way I stay productive...if I were to try some fast food I would lose hours of work and productivity!

Yeah, whenever I feel like procrastinating or I am just totally not looking forward to doing something, i will think of something that makes me happy or gives me something to look forward to and that will spike my energy up for a bit. Food is usually involved LOL

    Here's a real productivity lesson.

The minute your order is placed at McD, a timer starts ticking. Staff have a certain amount of time to give you your order. Once your car passes the sensor by the food window, it stops.

That's why they sometimes ask you to pull up and wait for food that isn't ready. They're trying to meet a time quota.

    *That's* productivity.

As a shareholder...you should look up their research labs...they test EVERYTHING.

They are the kings of split testing...hands down. Every single thing is tested a million times over constantly ever day, every year.

That's why 14 year olds can run it...b/c it's so stupidly simple.

But again this is all off my OP...I think everyone gets or should get my intention with posting originally.

      Cheers,

      Brad

Too funny Brad. Looks like people here are waaaay too literal. Maybe if you change the title to "insert your favorite comfort food here = Cool Productivity Lesson" folks would get it and wouldn't get hung up on the McDonald's angle.

See I thought this was going to be a thread about how McDonald's is a vast empire who mostly have teenagers working for them who couldn't care less if they tried but they've managed to automate the process so much that it doesn't really matter.

Or the famous "would you like fries with that?" upsell.

Or how the food business is actually secondary to McDonald's real estate business.

But on the real subject I had those chicken selects one time a couple of years ago and got super sick off of it. I had been eating them about once every 3 days before that for months on end. Ever since then McDonald's has grossed me out.

Now if we're talking Del Taco, taco bell basically any type of pretend Mexican food well that's another story entirely.

      Yeah Brad, I'm with you!

It does seem like a lot of people got caught up in thinking the point of your post was to promote McD's....I didn't take it that way at all.

I like the idea of marrying a potentially unpleasant or work related task with something that brings you pleasure. It could be used (in moderation) to "reprogram" yourself to handling harder situations with less trepidation or procrastination!

Time for some - Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun!

It's amazing how the post started out with a way to keep yourself happy, focused and productive into a nutritional discussion and even into the inner workings of a McDonalds restaurant.

And did someone mention Del Taco? MMMMmmmmm.... chicken soft tacos.

As with everything in life, it may make us happy, but unless we have a little moderation and self control, it can turn around and bite us quicker then we think.
